whos fault?? please respond

in august, my engine went, so i had a different engine put in...same engine (vg)

2 months later or so, the transmission went...so i got a rebuild.

a couple of weeks ago, out of no where, my car got messed up again...and after having the car towed back to the transmission place, they told us that the flywheel was broken and needs to be replaced. they quoted us $650. meanwhile, i have a 1 yr/12,000 mile warranty on the transmission.

isn't the flywheel part of the transmission? therefore, should the transmission place take full responsibility for this...since they were the last ones to deal with taking out and puttin back in the transmission?

also, is $650 in the right price range for a new flywheel?

is the $650 with labor or without??? with labor and part that would be a bit steep. without labor thats just insanely crazy.

now the flywheel is bolted to the back of the engine so i would say its part of the engine not the tranny but i could be wrong. the torque converter from ur tranny bolts onto the flywheel. to make long story short the shop doesn't really mess with ur flywheel only when they r about to bolt up the torque converter to the flywheel once the tranny is mounted to ur engine. so to me its kind of hard to say if the shop is responsible for the flywheel.

If the $650 includes the labor to install, then the price isn't bad but isn't great. I would buy a lightened flywheel instead of stock while the tranny is apart.

it's an automatic, there isn't a lightened flywheel available that I've seen.

Whoops, my bad. I thought autos didn't have flywheels, they have something similar but with a different name (which eludes me right now)?

The group deal section should have some for $325-350. I think the stock flywheel is closer to 19lbs.

flywheel has a friction surface for the clutch disc and the flexplate doesn't.
