Or you could do it yourself for $3 and it would look even better....and not throw $$ away for what are likely cheaply-made garbage that you would get there.....

ahhh..it's not difficult at all. Plus, mine aren't "smoked" they are painted with gloss black enamel - exactly the same color as my car - and they still shine through in orange and red (and reflect orange and red)...You could use sheer silver enamel and they would blend in nice during the day and still shine through at night!!!!

I used my OEM colored ones, but same for the clears:
1 light coat of whatever color you want to use Dupli-color spray enamel (silver, smoke, black, whatever)...
2 coats of gloss clearcoat.

so actually it's about $6 ($3 for each spray can).....

DONE

Seriously, though...I'm still waiting for someone with a silver or colored max to do some body-colored side markers that aren't black (like mine and Bluesbrekr's)...I think it would look SWEET. BTW, Bluesbrekr used Testors Boyd's Smoke spray paint on his, which are more "smoky black-gray" and don't perfectly match the car (though his car looks great). The gloss black I used makes the lights look like they are just part of the body, not lights, during the day.

Wher would i get the Sheer Silver Enamel? and Clear coat spray paint from, thinking of doing this to sidemarkers and possibly smoke clear tail lights and smoke headlight housing. Any How to's, or sites to order parts from? Anything would be appreciated..

Thanks!

Do you scuff the lights or just use wax and grease remover before painting?

You can buy dupli-color enamel from any car parts store (Autozone, Advance Auto, Pep Boys, etc...)....there is usually a book there that will let you know exactly which one is a color match to your OEM color (black was easy, of course). How-to? Just spray a nice, even coat....I suggest do some "practice sprays" on some newspaper or something so you can get a hang of making the spray even. If you spray too much, don't worry - you can clean off the paint with thinner or mineral spirits and then try again.

I just used a painting prep spray (basically removes all grease, dirt, etc...) and have had no problems with paint chipping, peeling, etc.

You could use an 800-grit wet/dry sandpaper but not sure if that would hurt the clarity of the lens (probably not)....

truthfully....this is an easy mod, but you might have to do it over a few times before it looks good and shines through consistent. Just takes a steady hand and being careful.

I honestly thought about doing mine the color of my car when I saw how clean yours looked on your website. If only I could find some Sherwood Green spray paint

I used the Testors on my emblems (Smoke Grey Pearl). For the corners I used Night Shades on the stock amber and red lenses. 3 or 4 coats. In hindsight, I should have used 1 less coat. Night Shades dries a bit darker than when it's wet.

The color matches my paint very well, but with that many coats, the light output is only about 50 - 60% of stock.

oops, that's right. It was ME who used the testors on the sidemarkers (the first time I did it) and it didn't match the black paint on the car, so I cleaned it off and used black enamel.

sorry Tom, I guess I have selective memory - so much time here and I forget what I have done and what others have done!!

No problem. It's sometimes easy to forget what we did, what we used, when we did it etc. I have that problem with bulbs. I've replaced most of the interior and exterior bulbs, but don't ask me what brand I have where!!
