carbon canister and emisson problem
I had to get mine replaced....
My "Service Engine Soon" light came on. I had Autozone run the test and it came up as P1456. Most research I could find said replace your fuel cap. Well that didn't work.
So I brought it in and they said my carbon canister was leaking hence the reason the light came on. That was one of the 3 items that P1456 references.
I assume my car wouldn't pass emissions if I didn't get this fixed.

I thought old thread month was October
For what its worth, I pulled an evap system including purge solenoid from a 20AE for my 2002 and replaced my somewhere mystically leaking evap canister and solenoid and it's been working fine since with no CEL for several months now.
The purge solenoid appears to be beefier on the 20AE generation than the 5.5 generation plastic piece. I replaced the whole canister with solenoid attached.

After my recent experience with repair shops on this I would recommend anyone that gets this code to replace the evap canister and solenoid with a junkyard box before having a shop check for leaks. It can be expensive and I think it would be worth the effort to first try replacing the evap can yourself first if you can find one cheap.
