Those who have the upgraded headlight harness...
When you installed the harness, my knowledge is that only one OEM headlight is plugged into the upgrade harness. Doesn't your headlight warning light on your gauges light up? Reason I asked was when i went to change a headlight bulb and i didn't plug it in, the high beam indicator turned on....thanks.
Gotrice, you're correct, only one headlight socket is used...but the brights light didn't come on with me. The only time it came on for me is when I burned up one of my sockets. It didn't turn off until I had both of the old high wattage bulbs out. I rode with no headlights, just 55 watt fogs for at several weeks ... just being lazy. My upgrade harness sat in a box and collected dust for a week before I put it in. Check your sockets, maybe both of them are damaged and the car is noticing that. One of my other sockets was damaged but not completely melted. I've had no problems though, and I've had my upgrade harness on for a few months. Hope this helps...

that's weird, b/c both sockets work, they both light up, high and low beams, but when i pulled the one socket, the high beam indicator came on...? strange... by any chance what year max do you have?

You said you pulled the "one" socket.
The circuitry of the headlights on most cars (im not sure about newers ones) works such that if one of the sockets (either the left or the right, i forget which) is required for the entire circuit to work. I remember in physics class we were testing it out. And we pulled out the drivers side bulb off a car, and both went out, but when we pulled out the passenger side one, the drivers one remained lit.
I think the indicator is telling you that you dont have a bulb connected, which is true, there is no bulb on the OEM plug. How did other people get aroudn this?
I could be entirely wrong by the way, I should go check out the Max's circuitry to see if it acts teh same way.
Matrix, maybe you're right. I failed to say that the light that burned up on my car was the passenger side light, however the driver side light still worked but the high beam indicator did come on and the high beams were not on. With the upgrade harness, the driver side socket is utilized, but not the passenger side. Perhaps that makes a diffence, but I don't really know. I just know it works, and it works right.
yea, i had the same problem too. I installed the APC wiring harness, and I used my driver's side OEM socket and plugged that in to the APC wiring harness. I left my passenger side socket open and taped it up with electrical tape. I get that same high beam indicator even though my high beams are not on. My low beams will be both on, and it still gives me the high beam indicator.
I think this is because 1 of the OEM bulb sockets is not being used or something. I'm not sure what would happen if I plugged in the passenger OEM socket and stuck that in the wiring harness while taping up the driver's side OEM socket. Would it still give me the high beam indicator even tho. the low beams are on? I wonder.

that's weird. Maximaxgtr, I had that problem when my bulb FIRST burned out...but when I put the upgrade harness in the high beam indicator went out...actually, as soon as I took out the bad bulb the light went out. Did you unplug your battery when you put the harness in? Not sure if this would really make a difference but I did it just as a precaution. Our cars should be just the same, since I have a 96 as well...
also, it seems like my driver's side headlamp is alot brighter than my passenger side headlamp. I'm not sure if this is normal at all, but i do know is that the driver's side headlamp socket is plugged in the upgrade harness socket, and mayb the upgrade socket closest to the harness is alot brighter than the passenger side upgrade socket.
