G35 sound

This is a pretty silly question but i'll ask anyway. I know that that the G35 and the 1995-pressent maximas have VQ engines. Does anyone know of a muffler or something that can give a similar sound?

but then again theres also that little issue of the g35 vq having another half liter of displacement, and that minute little 100 extra hp.

you will never have the exact sound because of the difference in displacement, cars are not musical instruments. but i have heard that the dual exhaust will give the car a similar sound to the g35 and 350z.

I have the a Flowmaster 40 series; not dual though. It's a little louder than the g35 but still nice and smooth sounding.

Flowmasters sound great on our cars.. dont know why...

I *might* a big might.. change my muffler to a Hooker Aerochamber... nicer muffler than a flowmaster.

You have to cut the other side of the bumper, I just used an electric saw

so they used an 80 series muffler? could you use that muffler to achieve the same sound with out doing a dual setup, or is the muffler a dual setup muffler?

dont start doggy... its a real set up
Most of the time people see the exhaust on the left side hanging before they see the tip and think its a sway bar...

Irishman- thats exactly what CE sells you.. a $80 Flowmaster 80 series muffler with piping you can get done for $200. Granted theirs is mandrel bent but its not that serious. I dont know if the 80 series comes without dual outlets but if it doesnt, get the 40 series. Check out summit or jegs. If you specifically want the dual exhaust set up you need a muffler from an IROC camaro.. which came out from about (I'm not exact on the dates) 84 to 92 or so.

Can I use that muffler even though it is not center inlet? I am going with a custom Bpipe so they should be able to make it work right?

Thats exactly the muffler you need. The side that has a pipe by itself is NOT THE INLET. thats one of the outlets

The inlet is the one directly on the other side of that outlet.

Does that setup actually help with power, or is it just for looks and sound? It just seems kinda of an odd pipe run.

It gets an even flow through both pipes

When you start it up in the morning you can see both pipes smoking... me I just did it cuz it looks good and sounds even better. I didnt see any power advantage...

i know everyone said on the first page the .5 more displacement has a big role in this but then what about the 300ZX NA? my buddy has one and hes got a custom catback made and to my suprise it sounds absolutly nothing like our engine. It makes that sound of the r32 type deep and that G35ish fluctuating exhaust note. It sounds awsome, i wish my max could sound like that also my friend has duel's so im thinking it must be the dual however that would play a role in the sound?

Did you figure out if the 350Z muffler will fit in the same way?
