Tail and trunk difference 95/96 to 97-99??

Hey guys, I'd like to go with the Altezza GenII's for my 95 ( I guess I'm going to have to endure the flaming to get a good answer, so be it), I know the out rear fender lights are a direct replacement but the inners on the trunk are different. I also know you can switch trunks to solve this but I haven't been able to find a 97-99 trunk at a fair price, so I was thinking: the inner lights must be the same height so it must be a width issue? Are the 95-96's wider or more narrow than 97-99? Could a body shop not make these fit with a bit of bodywork? If the 95-96 openings are wider there would be no cutting involved just metal fill? Anyone tried this or know about the width differences? thanks

A bodyshop could make them fit, but you would be spending a lot of money. The top portion of the light has a different angle so they would need to fill in around the light with bondo or weld plates in, and then repaint the lid. It would probably be cheaper to pick up a trunklid from a junkyard and have it painted your color, IIRC this shouldn't be more than $250.

get the 97-99 trunk lid with a spoiler and put some red/clears on it.

Thanks, Unfortunately used parts are hard to find up here in Canada the cheapest I could find a trunk without the spoiler which I could take from mine was $500 plus painting! ouch, I have a friend who owns a shop and I figured that $500 would go a long way to getting my trunk adapted and repaint?

in my opinion.. its not worth the hassle.. lookaround for the parts if you really want to do it. you could also look into it and get the carbon fiber trunk lid. and get the altezzas.

FYI: i have gen 2 altezzas in carbon fiber. if ur interested let me know.. ill send u pics..

The outer lights are interchangeable. With the inner lights it's a matter of angle's.

I will be doing this soon, If you want I can check on a 97+ Lid and see how much I could get is for, off the top I'm guessing around $250 shipped it may cost, but I havent made any calls yet, let me know and I'll look into it, it may not be black so it would need repainting (unless I find it in black).

Pm me if your interested I can check it out and get back to you on it sunday.

This is actually a pretty good idea. I wonder if it would work. I have gen 1 altezza's right now (I dont like them, but I hate stock and I think that Red/Clears are a little overrated (they only look slightly better than stock)). I would like to do this.

Oh yea I forgot the mention, the '95-'96 lid has an indentation on it (so do the taillights). The '97-'99s are flat as well as the light, so you'll have to improvise there also.

$500 should go a long way in this body modification, I see your problem with finding a lid or importing one.
