And solid gains from 2500 rpm on up. Peak gains are minimal, but that was what I expected.

Keep in mind this is boosting to about 11.5 psi.

Check it out:

The only change was the IM. MEVI dyno was taken 11/12/04, virtually the same weather conditions.

Nice numbers

So the 00VI is better, well I didn't expect it to be that much over MEVI.

Is it because your boosted, bigger TB and all?

Compare that to N/A would the gains be similar......Tilleys setup?.

Time to drop down to a 2.87" or 2.67" pulley?

I've got a 2.87 in my garage right now. I was going to wait until after I dynoed today to install it so it wouldn't cloud the dyno comparison. After that, though I've got to save money for bigger injectors. I'm at 100% with fuel pressure around 75 psi with the 370's.

I think you need a different switch over point.

$300 for SuperDaves' injectors and $100 for JWT chip...not bad, however from Mardis' experience, you'd be better off with eManage then JWTs over conservative timing.

eManage($275+$100) and J&S($350 used) is better then JWT route IMHO.

Yeah, maybe if I was starting all over again and the Max wasn't my daily driver. But I already have the $600 invested in the JWT ecu. Besides, I like the 7200 rpm redline, and the conservative timing always makes me feel better about taking it up that high.

With the smaller pulleys you don't need 7200rpm. Boost comes on sooner, more low and mid range, and less stress on engine.

JWTs timing isn't just somewhat safely retarded, it's over the top. I can't say, but 30whp-50whp AT LEAST on a turbo max.

With the eManage you can retard timing as much as you want to be safe or run water injection.

Many ways to skin the ECU cat, but IMHO, people like you who have the ability and are constantly tinkering/tweaking would be MUCH better off with the eManage.

Why couldn't it still be a daily driver?

Looks good to me.

5-8ft-lbs for 300rpm maybe?

Good points, all. Actually, I'm waiting on the Zemulator for the 4th gen. Then I can really get myself into trouble! I know, I'm being inconsistent.

Oooh...I'd take that ZEMulator in a HEARTBEAT especially since you can advance the timing no piggyback MAF conditioning BS.

That's a BETTER plan.

SM,

I know you had some detonation issues before when it was warm out. Was it below 4000rpm?

You seem a bit lean IMHO below 4Krpm, BUT if you aren't detonating with your grade/type fuel, I guess 14:1 isn't too bad.

BSwithTF is coming up to KC tommorrow to dyno his DEK manifold on his 95. Last time he dynoed up here he had the MEVI. Same dyno and it looks like the conditions will be the same too. I guessing an additional 8-10whp/wtq in the midrange.

BSwithTF (Travis) dynoed today. His car put down 193whp/193wtq. His previous was 183whp/182wtq. He gained ~10whp/10wtq at all points along the curve. No other changes were made to his car.

You don't have the chart/graph (or whatever it's called) of the dyno do you?

So his dyno was an amplified version of the MEVI? In an auto car, correct?

Yes on both accounts.

I'd imagine a 5 speed with the JWT ECU and 00 VI would make around 215whp/210wtq vs the 200whp/200wtq the MEVI guys are seeing. One thing I did notice is that the 00 VI has the same exact peak rpm as the MEVI (~6100-6200) and power does taper off after 6500rpms.

I wonder how it would react with a TS ECU and raised rev limit?

Do you think shaving the Power Rod is possible while keeping the seal when closed and some decent aerodynamics?

You mean to keep it from binding?

I haven't had any problems with mine since I pulled the power valve (rod) out and cleaned all the gunk off it.

Since I'm not using egr or pcv I don't expect it to get dirty again any time soon.

No, you know how it's a SQUAREish shape, shave that down so it doesn't block as much of the passage when the valve is open to the secondary chamber.

It takes up a large amount of room that could allow air to pass and I don't think it needs to.

Here this shows the square shape:

Could this be shaved down, but still provide adequate area for a good seal when closed? That is my question.

Another area of possibility, would there be any advantage to remove some of this overhang(bottom semi-circle)?

Another angle RIGHT side semi-circle:

Yes, you can try www.car-part.com and send out an email to all the yards that have a VQ30 engine laying around.

I think you might be able to gain a little more airflow with some judicious trimming here and there. The rod certainly looks like it could go on a diet without sacrificing too much strength. Not that it needs very much strength for what it does. I would be worried about making it too flexible, though. That overhang thing you show baffles me. I'll have to look in the spare 00vi I have at home.
