Clunking sound from strut
Clunking sound from strut
about a year ago i hit a nasty pothole with my front right tire and it messed up my shock there, so i replaced all four of em with agx's early spring.. over the summer i was experiencing a popping sound when turning at slow speeds from the same right front shock.. now it has gotten worse to the point that its just clunking all the time now except for at high speeds.. my question is, do i have to replace just the strut bearing or the strut mount or both of them?? tia..

Remove the strut, disassemble it and see whats broken. Could be the bearing, might be the mount. You can look at the mount under the hood, see if the strut nut is centered and tight. It should have no side to side play. When the mounts go, the rubber part tares and the nut is usually off center and sometimes loose. Put a 17m socket on it and give it a tug. It should be nice and snug. It it moves around, the mount is shot.
