This is the message I get when using the tire calculator. I'm changing from 225/50/17 to 255/45/18 (offset 35.)

??????? I don't see how moving up to an 18" wheel will cause risk of brake failure. Maybe because of the extra weight, which the 18s are probably lighter if you had stock 17s. Sounds stupid to me.

 

Yea i would say 255 to big. I run 225 40 18. I have a half inch bigger rim than the stock se 17 rims which i belive is 7 wide correct me if im wrong, so im running a 7.5 wide rim. It depends on how wide of a rim you are running.

 

What's wrong with a 45 series tire? I want a little more comfortable ride. To me, that size looks fine on the car and that's what counts!

 

i ran a 245/45/18 with no problems and a nice ride...took them off though so I could slam the car on jic's

Do you know what the numbers mean when describing a tire. Do you know what the first number means? Do you know what the second number means? Of course the third # means rim size, but if you don't know what the other 2 mean you should find out before you start messing with your tires and rims.

We got off track here. I used the 1010tires calculator and it says I would have brake problems if I went to the larger tires? What kind of problems?

 

larger diamiter=more rolling mass= harder to stop, i believe thats how it goes, Correct me if im wrong.

 

I have 245/45/17 on my stock wheels.
