My wife (Robyn) takes on my Maxima. We road tested the two under $30,000 athletes.

Performance. Maxima wins hands down. One of Ward's 10 best, the V6 sounds great. A bit more throaty would be nicer. Robyn has a wheezy sound when running. If you can call it running. OK, so she can ski.

Handling. Robyn is harder to handle as she ages. Answers back. No match for Maxima's balanced transmission and steering.

Styling. (Front) Robyn could do with a face freshening. In contrast the Maxima's front end grows on you.

Styling. (Rear) This is a close call. Robyn's rear is well proportioned; slightly too flaired. The Maxima rear end is a victim of the TSB to fix the trunk/bumper scratch, but the tail-lights are classy. Give this one to Robyn. (Should really be a tie).

Service. Robyn wins this one. Her OBGYN is a polite woman. The Maxima dealer treats me like filth.

Fun factor. The fuel cut-off TSB seams to help. Accelerating is fun again. There is no TSB to fix Robyn's intelligence cut-off. Go Maxima.

Accomodation. Maxima has great heated leather seats. Always comfortable. Robyn gets tired.

Final score: Maxima 5, Robyn 2

Long term test update:

The Maxima's Bose sound system has good range, etc. Robyn has no volume adjustment.
Also, Maxima would appear to have a lower annual maintenance cost.

That is one funny comparison. My wife would kill me if I wrote that about her. Of coarse, I may think these things for sure, but damn is that funny.
