1995 maxima making unfamiliar noise.....
hello to all!
i just want to thank all the contributors to this organization who actually help guys like me who are willing to learn more about their cars...
i have a 1995 maxima that i enjoy a lot. it is a manual trans. and when i purchased it over a year ago it already had 113000 miles on it. i have since changed the trans and clutch... 3rd gear doesnt engage properly in fact at higher rpms it is impossible to get into 3rd so i usually go strait to 4th.
but this post is pertaining to 2 strange noises emitting from the engine when i am in idle. the first sound on a start-up is a kind of flapping noise and the second noise is a high pitch squeaking/whistling kind of noise....it is consistent in the whistling and stays even after the car is fully warmed up so does the flapping. i thought i didnt have enough oil inside so i dropped in another quart and it seemed to make the flapping calm a bit but it is still there.
sp my question is simple........what are my usual suspects? and a) should i take it to nissan or b) do it myself (i am willing to learn if it is not to strenuous)
merry christmas to all & God Bless all you contributors!
