How can I make my Auto lights turn on faster?

When set in the Auto position, my lights take way to long to come on. My moms Infiniti come on instantly when she pulls into the garage or parking deck. Does anyone know how I can reprogram mine? Thanks in advance

Thanks for the info. I was hoping to avoid going to the stealership, but I guess its unavoidable, kinda like the bad humor on the ORG.

What's funny is I'm so used to the auto feature. If I get into a friends car that doesn't have it, I'm usually like what's wrong with your car and how come the lights don't work. Yes laziness has caused me to forget about the manual light switch. I still use my turn signals, unlike most of the people where I live.

Auto feature rocks, when I drive my Atlima I almost always forget to turn off the lights when getting out of the car. The buzzer beeps n beeps till I figure out wtf I left ON. Belive it or not, I hate the 350Z cause it has no usefull glove box, no auto ON n OFF headlights, and few other things I can't remember- those 2 things make my CHEAP Maxima - its a GXE, life that much more comfortable.

I'm pretty sure the information in that other thread was posted here long ago, and IIRC they DO NOT work on the Maxima. Correct me if you can find a person who has had this done. . .

Take a piece of black electrical tape and cover the sensor...

I always used the auto feature until recently, i left it in auto went inside my house. Then a 1/2 hour later my friend called and said my lights were still on. I thought maybe i made a mistake but then i went outside, looked and my lights were on auto. Since then I haven't trusted it, has this happened to anyone else or is there some reason this would happen?

nah, mine turn off automatically when I cut the ignition. If I turn them off and then to ON, they'll stay on. But not Auto. The auto feature doesn't work at all unless my ignition key is at least in ACC mode or higher.

yeah, must have been something weird, but yours go off as soon as you cut the ignition? Mine have a delay on them, they stay on for a little bit after I close and lock the car then they ususally turn off.

get a piece of dark color film, cut it to the shape of the sensor and tape it on. Now you will have a more sensitive sensor.

That is more work than flipping the headlight switch....

Epacy is right, i dont think its worth going through all these problems to try to make something so simple work, just turn the headlight switch.

Sounds like a malfunction; When in Auto, they should turn off when you turn off the ignition. After turning off ignition, lights should only remain on when in they're in the "On" position and door hasn't been open. Other than that, they should turn off after any door has been opened or 45 seconds has passed without anyone opening a door. Of course this applies to my 2000 Maxima.

the worst, though...is those SUVs that have the electrically-fold down back seats, where you push a button and the back seat folds down. I mean....is it THAT hard to pull the little peg up and pull the seat down? And do you do it THAT often that you need a button for it? America is getting to be one lazy-*** country!@

Mine stay on for about a minute (maybe it's 45 seconds) after I leave the car...or at least after I lock it. I'm not sure how long they stay on if I don't lock it, but I bet ***'s the same time. One time I came back to my car (and I believe it was locked) after a few hours and the lights were ON. Still don't know what happened and it hasn't happened again.

Hey Epacy I like those Millie Migilia wheels you have on your max. I was wandering what offset do you have and is the size 18 x 7, or 18 x 7.5. I really like them. The look good on the Max.
