Engine/Tranny Swap

I was thinking of getting a 140k car, it looks like it's in good condition..but if ever needed..would the engine or tranny swap cost a lot for a maxima? I don't drive hard..it's a 98 with 140 k on engine..is there even a need to replace if the engine runs quietly without jittering..what's your experience on high mileage cars..?

You are lucky. VQ30s are pretty cheap and plentiful. If you had to pay for an engine swap, you are looking at maybe $1,500?

If the engine is running well, no need to touch it. 140k is nothing.

Is there a write-up for a JDM engine swap for the VQ. I did a JDM swap with a VE and there are a few parts that have to be swapped over. The CPS, Temp sensor, and since my car was a manual and the motor I got was from an auto I had to change the intake manifold.

Are there any parts that have to be switched between the JDM and USDM motors? Also is there a dif. between the VQ for a manual and an auto. The guy I called for the motor said he didnt have one for the manual but he had one for an auto. Is it just like an intake that has to be changed or more than that?

TIA

Don't ever use JDM and maxima in the same sentence again.

Well, on the 3rd Gen forum there is a sticky for a engine swap using one of those imported engines. So I thought that would be the term to use here but I guess I was wrong.

Anyway I am not into rice at all. Just wanted to know if anyone had ever did the swap using an engine imported from Japan. Not because its better but because they are low milage.

Maybe now you guys will be nice since I didnt say _ _ _.
