that looks good, i would do it. very subtle so i dont think cops would give you too much ****, if any. it looks good there, and i think itll look nice on my grey luster. go for it, just make sure you do it lightly like in the pic.

shouldn't have any legal trouble regardless of how dark you tint it. as long as you still reflect red, have a red or amber turn signal, and a white reverse light, you're okay, and tinting the signal and reverse light doesn't change any of that.

Looks pretty slick. I'd say they're a pretty safe bet considering Pontiac gets away with tinting their tails.

they will be fine if the tail/brake reflects red and the blinker blinks amber (or red like mine)

keep thinking that.....

My tinted side markers (which still shine red/orange AND reflect at night) failed inspection and are technically illegal. Here in the commonwealth (VA) we have to get state inspection every year. Some inspection stations are sticklers for things like smoked lights.....who knows if a cop will notice/give a hard time about it.

I'm not saying not to do it....but don't expect for it to pass inspection like that....

I think he photoshopped his maxima into a screen freeze frame from the movie "Field of Dreams"

where's Kevin Costner?

I think I am gonna do a foglight mod, re-wired fogs to come on with parking lights. Not a bad idea at all. Pretty easy too and this will allow me to avoid using my H.I.D's on dark or rainy days where you dont really need to see but need to be seen by other cars.

Well in that case ,he will not pass the inspection either way (if he smoke them or not).Because they are clear, and they dont reflect orange or red.

So i say smoke them .Atleast he will get a better look.

Field of Dreams?! I'll admit it's been a few years since I've seen that one, so I'm apparently missing the punchline. Was there some girl in a red dress I've forgotten? Does Kansas City look like a giant cornfield? :dunno:

Anyway, the mysterious sig girl is my g/f. We we're on our way to dinner and the sky was doing some apocalyptic thing so I had to pull over and take a shot. She was just standing there waiting and it happened to work. I actually have quite a few shots of her and the Max, but - shocker - she doesn't want me posting them on my site. After seeing what goes on in OT when people post pics, I can't blame her!

Sorry to get off-topic, but your photos are great! Do you do any photoshopping or is it all in-camera? And what camera do you use?

Back on topic...I like the tinted tails.

BTW, tint the clear corners IMO.

Thanks Rayn4est. Yeah, I do photoshop work on most of my photos before I post them. For example, my girlfriend is actually near 300lbs. I kid. Actually, I typically just resize, adjust levels , sharpen. On my sig I also removed a number of cars & signs from the background to clean up the shot. Yes, I have too much free time. I use an older Canon S30.

And back on topic - PhxBlue - the tails look good, and your car looks insane. Exhaust, kit, rims, drop....it all comes together very well. Still, between the two ideas, I prefer Pri63's.

I don't think those are illegal... the only one that needs to reflect is the red not the orange in this case...... Why would a cop stop you for something like having the orange buld darker.....???

It's pretty much up to the officer, however they can ticket you for modifying any DOT approved lights.

It looks like he darkened the whole housing(not as bad as BigDogJonx did), which would dim brake lights and shorten the distance the amber signal would shine. Get into an accident and the lawyers will have a field day with that. There are distance requirements they must be visible from, but no officer can measure that on the side of the road. He'll just give you a fix it ticket once he sees they're modified and you have to replace them. Most of the time, it's just a 2nd, 3rd, etc ticket to add to the primary reason they pulled you over.

His white rear side markers, which don't reflect red but do light up red/pink at night are not legal, but he can do it. I can't and have no bulb. It's still not legal, but less noticeable on my white car and I haven't been busted for that although I've been pulled over twice in AZ and once in even stricter Cali.

Two things I don't care to mess with now are brake lights and amber turn signals, since it's not worth the risk/liability IMO. I did that once to the front turn signals and I was too paranoid it could cause an accident, since it definitely reduced the brightness.

Do what you want, just my .02, but I've even thought about adding amber led mirrors to make lane changes more obvious.

looks like i'm going to be doing this...it also seems as if nightshades in my best option.

I'm probably going to be spraying it from the inside through the bulb hole. Also, can anyone direct to a website where I can find a good deal on it. Thanks for the feedback.

Why don't you just ask PhxBlue since I believe from pics he is a officer of the law. Which he has them on his car.

Which part of "he can get away with it, but I can't" did you miss...haha.

Yes, he can run the sidemarkers, I can't. Cops here would have my ****.

Anyways, every state is different, so you need to look up your state statues. AZ has them online now, so I'm sure everyone else does.

Nice work. I would keep the look regardless. The chances of getting pulled over are remote. If you do just mention my name and that will clear things up.

well, okay, you've got me, although it really doesn't make any sense. the lights are the right color, and they reflect the right color, so they SHOULD be legal (taking into account the fact that the light has to be visible from a certain distance, etc.).

Discussed in other thread about smoking tailights that i had stated. Painting is permenant which means if you get pulled over and they say you can't have them you have to buy new lights. imple solution www.lamin-x.com They use films so if you get pulled over you can just pull the film off instead. This is what i am going to be using in fact my film is on it's way to me now.
