stupid clanking noise!!

after recently getting new cv boots on both sides in the front, a constant clanking sound is coming from my front wheels. i took off a wheel and noticed that the pin in the middle of the wheel was bent incorrectly and thus made a metallic noise when driving. it is not really dangerous but it is very annoying, how do i fix something like this?

Are you talking about the cotter pin.... and if so that all turns with the wheel so I doubt that's your problem. You didn't by chance put new boots on worn out cv's did ya.

no, the mechanic put on brand new boots on both sides. the pin in the middle of the wheel (i guess its called the cotter pin, i actually have no idea what it even does) clanks against the thing it is holding in, and even though it all rotates together, bumps in the road cause it to clank around when moving despite the moving together, i think it was put in wrong or something

Did he put boots on or the whole axles? There is no way it's got anything to do with the cotter pin that would not develop enough noise so you could here it. Does it make any noise when you turning the wheel or only when you are going straight ahead.
