Your in Wa. State? Hmm didn't know that. You need some kind of literature from Apexi stating your muffler meets local laws and bring that to the court with you. Do a search for the Apexi website or call Apexi using the information received w/ your muffler.

Are you sure the ticket wasn't a local/municipal noise ordinance violation? Could have nothing to do with emissions legality.

I would call call Apexi and talk to them about the situation and ask their advice... also, it won't hurt to get an emission test done to walk into court with.

Ah guys, the muffler has nothing to do w/ the car's emissions. Noise emissions but I've never really heard of it being spoken in those terms.

The paper work that you will get from Apex only certifies that a complete cat-back system is in accordance of the 95 db rule...but to tell you the truth how are they going to know? Go to Apex-i's website and ask for what you are looking for or copy the stuff they have on the website...by any chance, did read the ticket wrong? Could have said defective exhaust...

ummm...i think the ticket was for "DEFECTIVE" exhaust.
Cops are well know for their horrible spelling & hand writing....
Your ticket is probably for noise pollution...
The only way you're getting out of it (possibly) is to have proof that you fixed it (ie: receipt from Midas/Meineke).

Of course, a good start towards being prepared for court is to FIND OUT WHAT THE TICKET WAS FOR. Might come in handy. If it is noise, and if they have a specific written law, you may have a case. If it is a vague law and left to the judgement of the officer (as many things are) you have no case.

ok, my court day is finally coming this friday. I went to local muffler shop to check on my exhaust, and they told me everything looks ok and sounds ok. I went over to check my emmison, and I passed it. So far I have 2 paperproof saying mine is ok on street use.
I got another ticket for speeding when I got this ticket. I was going 36 on 25. It was downhill, I forgot to give'em a brake. I was late for my work (like 2 minutes), and got pull over block away from my work place. My radar detector didn't even alarmed, nor my eyes. All I did was step on gas till 25 and just let it go on downhill. anyone has good excuse to reduce/drop this ticket?? thanks in advance..

Maybe the cop who gave you the ticket is a
Defective Detective?

Always ask for a deposition when you send in the ticket
[should be a little box you can check on the tkt.]
This is a statement by the cop about the case
so you can prepare your defense.

But they can screw this up
- not send it to you in time - or at all,
or fail to sign it [which makes it invalid].
Then you can get off.
If they do it all correctly, well,
you still know what to expect in court.

I would guess he gave you a tkt. for being too loud.
Don't know how any proof after the fact can help.
I mean, you probably went out and got it fixed
right after the ticket, right?
[How they'll probably look at it].

On the other hand, all your paper work couldn't hurt
and might even help.
You might see if you can borrow a properly calibrated decible meter
[maybe w/ papers that document its accuracy?]
and bring them outside for a demonstration.

But geeze, you were only a block from work?
why didn't you just floor it,
cut around the corner,
whip into a parking space and a 50 yard dash to your desk...
:-)

No, not ALL cops are ******,
just the ones who write you tickets.

I was just stopped for a u-turn.
The guy only gave me a safety lecture.
Hell, I'll take that over a ticket any day.
I almost wanted to buy him a donut.
[And I didn't peel out when I left]

well, whatever good luck w/ your case
