Manual Transmission question

Don't ask me why, but I test drove a Scion tC 5-speed yesterday. The interior, speed, etc. don't hold a candle to the Maxima, but the transmission and shifter, wow was it sweet.

So now my question - the travel of the clutch on the Scion was amazingly short - very easy and fun to drive. By comparison, my 2k2 6-speed seems to have a really long amount of travel on the clutch. I'm mechanically dumb, but can someone explain to me - is it possible to shorten the length of travel in the clutch? Am I even being entirely clear on what I'm trying to do here?

I already know about the short shifter from HP Autoworks, so the long shifting problem is solved. But any suggestions for the clutch? Is it even a characteristic of the car that can be altered like that?

Im not the best mechanic in the world, but from what i know about the car it is not somthing that could be done with out machining some new parts, im sure for the right price you could have it done, but it would probably cost thousands.

iv had it done in my acura. It makes it real comfortable, big diff. I inquired about getting it done but gave me a hard time. Hence I don't go to him anymore among other reasons. Inquire with the right mechanic, it may be pretty involved.

define "pretty involved" in terms of effort and price?

maybe look into buying an aftermarket clutch? ask around and see what people say about the way the clutch feels?
