Tokico Illumina Install price question.
Ok So i finally get my Tokico Illumina's and Tokico springs and i'm happy!
. So i take them to Midas (cause they did some work for me before) and i get a quote of like $450 in labor to install them. They say its 4 hours labor for the front and 3 for the back....
WHAT? First off i asked on the org before and people said expect to pay between $100-250 dollars for install, so 400+ sounds insane to me. Also i've taken off my front struts before on my old max... Theres NO FREAKING WAY it takes 4 hours... took me 30 min. and i had no clue what i was doing. And i know after taking them off u just have to compress the spring and switch everything over to the new struts, so WTF is up with 4 hours... And i got that same quote at a private mechanic i went too (just a shop thats done work for me before) WTF is up with this.
They all seem to look at their computers and say oh a maxima... i'm gonna rape u
... err "charge u" 7 hours labor... So I guess my question is for anyone who's gotten this done before. How much did u pay, and where did u go, cause if i can't find a cheaper price i'm gonna do this myself, since i know it really isn't that hard. What do u guys think?

Spend $400 and buy the tools you need to change it. If I know how to do it, i'll change it myself.
P.s. Anyone have any DIY instructions on how to change the spring and replace the strut? I know I know, get a manual. Reading it is different from actually working on it.

How about you go the maxima.org homepage? There are also instructions (they may be the same ones) on www.vqpower.com.

Seems like the general consensus is to do it myself, so i'm gonna go ahead and do that. I saw the write up on VQPower and it looks easy. I've already taken my fronts off before so i know its not too hard 2 do. Only thing i'm worried about is messing with a spring compressor, but as long as i'm careful i don't see a problem. I'll probably be getting on this on monday, i'll let u guys know how it went and provide some pics...
