heated seats, no question.

I'd sooner get that, then if navi was a ncessity, i'd purchase an aftermarket one. Adding heated seats on the other hand, is a potential pita. They are the sh~t, meridian package is awesome... the heated wheel is the best!

Heated seats are nice. Nav is a good thing to have but its CD based which means its not as good looking as the newer DVD based systems and you have to have a CD for each region which there are 9 of in the US. Don't get me wrong, I love my Nav but its I don't have the newest version of it so the roads are not correct and keeping up to date with it is going to be a pain, I can already see that only 3 months into owning it. But the heated seats are a lot more useful when you consider I don't look at the nav screen driving to work (which is what I ususally am doing in the car) and the heated seats make that few minutes from start to the heater warming up a lot more comfortable. Also, don't discount the fact that the steering wheel is also heated, like mjg said. It heats up quick and you'd be surprised how quickly you get used to having it.

That being said, the factory Nav has its ups and downs. Ups being that it has Points of Interest (POIs) including Nissan dealerships and hotels, most roads, GPS location with elevation, ability to point and click on different parts of the map. Downs being that you have to be stopped to use a lot of the functions and go to previous screens, destination function that's quirky at best, lots of minor roads missing, and the fact that its CD based (like I said before). Its something I would call a "conversation starter" for those who haven't been in your car or possibly a helping hand when your trying to go somewhere new. But, you still would want to have a map handy if you're going somewhere new since the destination may or may not be exactly where you wanted to go and the fact that you may cross regions and the auto-destination calculator won't allow you to program it. Oh, and I do like the climate controls being on the screen... I just hope the screen doesn't decide to go out.

In short, were I to have to chose, I'd pick the heated seats... but I do like the fact that I seem to have one of the only 6-speeds with factory nav in existance.

so the meridian package heats up the steering wheel and seats??? did not know that!! so a retro fit would only be the seats unless I went through the PITa of reaplce the steering wheel too.

Meridian adds heated seats, heated steering wheel, and heated outside mirrors. The seats have the switches below the arm rest. The wheel is next to the mirror adjustment ****. The mirrors come on when you turn on the back defrost... if that helps.

My max had Navi, and if you travel a lot it's worth it 100%. It was my favorite option on my Max...

Barc's detailed reply pretty much sums it up. I find myself in cold/winter conditions a lot (WI, MN and Nothern IL) and the Meridian package is nice to have. When it's 5:30 AM, -20 degrees or worse and your Max has been sitting unprotected in a hotel parking lot in Minneapolis all night, it's great to quickly heat-up the leather / wheel and go.

While used much less, the Navi has it's advantages as well. I don't give a rat's *** how the OEM unit compares technically/functioanlly to DVD-based OEM or aftermarket units, the CD-based version is more than I need on the rare occasion I use it. I find it very helpfull in major metro areas (Chicago, Minneapolis, etc.) where I don't know the suburbs/streets in-detail. For example; if I have a client meeting at a site that is unfamiliar to me, getting there is one less thing I have to contend with. Jump in, key-in the destination and x hours later I'm sitting in the parking lot without wasting head-time wondering which turn to take when.

Fortunatley, I have both options but if I had to choose it would be the heat.

You're not alone out there!! I have a 2k2 6 speed with NAVI from the factory. Same deal don't use it that much, but it's always been handy when I need it!! Love the fact you can get phone numbers to your destination if its avail.

Is the Nav system in the 6th gen DVD based? From I've heard, the 04/05 TL's Nav is great, not to also mention the DVD-A sound system and the blue-tooth phone However, the Max has the heated steering wheel and the auto-exit seats, which I think are great

Just like everyone else...I would go with heated seats unless you're in a warm climate. Nissan navi isn't that good b/c it's CD based.

So there is at least 1 02 6-speed SE with nav. Wonder if there are any more 03s? I'm sure there are but where!? I can't be alone! Oh well, I'd like to see the numbers of SE 6-speeds with factory nav. I'm sure there aren't many at all.

And yes, the 6th Gen nav is DVD based, as is every other Nissan in/after 2004 (almost, I35 was CD based in 04, maybe another one I am forgetting). There may be an exception or 2, but most cars nowadays are going with DVD based nav systems for simplicity and functionality. Plus its a good "high-tech" feature to brag about when the salesman says "DVD" when talking about the car! lol

Never touched my mirrors to check, to be honest. I guess you could check by misting your mirror with a fine-mist spray bottle or something and seeing if it dissipated. But, I'm almost positive that if you have heated seats and wheel that you have heated mirrors as it was all part of the Meridian package. And there is no interior indication or indication on the mirrors like a lot of heated mirrors have (oddly enough) that they are heated.

My mirrors usually have frost on them on these cold mornings and when I turn on the defroster(rear) they are clear in a matter of minutes. The glass surface is quite warm to the touch when they are on.
