Child Safety lock problem

Child Safety lock problem
I have a problem on my 2000 Maxima SE with the Child door safety lock. I cannot open my rear right door from the inside regardless if the child safety switch is on or off. The left door is fine.
I can open it from the outside only. Any suggestions?

The mechanism maybe broke in the handle on the inside. IMHO, Pull the door panel and see if when you move the handle, anything else moves.
