I've noticed on E-bay there is some chump selling a piece of pipe with two flanges on it and a bolt welded to it, painted grey, trying to pass it for $90. Saying it's high quality pipe and you can use it to replace your cat. (not legally but...) It would give you more power. Does anyone know where I could get a good quality pipe to do the same, or even a high flow cat. I live in a county where it's emision free so.... The possibilities are endless...

On most newer cars taking out the catalytics won't get you too much power unless it is turboed. Do the environment and me a favor and have at least the main catalytic in place...

Cat removal

I agree with the above poster. At WarpSpeed we don't recommend removing the main cat. People who sell test pipes can be liable for a fine of up to 10K. Your gains will be minimal if any. BTW we do sell bolt on high flow cars for the Maxima and others. Check out our web site.

As everyone else has said, it's not worth the gain. Try WarpSpeed or Random Technology for high flow converters. You'll get just as much power with a high flow cat as you would with no cat.

WarpSpeed sells the carsound cat for just over $100. You can get the Random Technology cats for about $200 from places like Avalon Racing (I think they sell it). The RT cat may be a bit better then the WarpSpeed, but who knows. At any rate, I doubt it's worth an extra $100. The carsound cat from WarpSpeed should be fine.

test pipes are bad for the enviroment and won't do too much.

replacing your cat if your car has low miles is not too benificial because the advantage of a new cat (factory or aftermarket) is that you are getting rid of your old cat for a new one. The difference between an aftermarket cat and factory is mostly price and maybe 1 HP better on the high flow one best case.

Just talked to my exhaust guy today. According to him pulling or replacing the cat gives you little or no gain. The only time you will notice a difference is if your cat is bad. Hes been in the buz for years and works on everything from hot rods to imports and seems very knowlegable. Sides that I would figure dumping the cat would make the car undesirably loud, both my stangs are catless and they both are a hell of a lot louder than any of my friends' cars with similar exhaust and cats.
