Simply put; no, it is not normal for any modern street automatic to have to warm up for 10 minutes before shifting through all gears properly.

I've heard of overdrive not kicking in until the transmission warms up. It has to be really frickin cold for it to happen though. I notice it in my max but only when it's below -20 C.

Mine has done this since it was brand new. The only time it takes 5 to 10 min is when the outside temp gets below freezing...and you start up in the am cold...like it has been these days up here in the northeast. It doesnt happen at all in the summer on my max. So I'd say its normal also.

Never happened in mine. 2003 SE w/ 98k miles on it. I live in MD. You'd think that it would happen to me if it was normal, wouldn't you?
