02 6 disk changer problem, any answers?

I know that there seems to be many problems with the bose 6 disk system. My changer all of a sudden jammed and my cd player wont work. the display wont even show up, but the radio still works. you just have to kinda guess what station youre at. anyway, anyone know any fixes? im going to just end up getting an aftermarket HU, but i would love to get my cd's back. any help would be great. thanks.

Yep, take it back to nissan. They can get your cds out for you, and replace your head unit. It is a common problem.

yes, it is common. It happened to me two weeks after i got my car, and then after they fixed that, the speakers started to cut out. nissan took care of it, but i was getting fed up... thats when I upgraded to aftermarket stereo...

My left speakers have failed too, but I am 1000 miles out of warranty. That just makes me madder than I can explain. Anyway, if you're not covered under warranty anymore (like me), then don't bother getting another Bose (actually it's a Clarion) head unit from Nissan. They'll charge you way too much. Upgrade to a nicer aftermarket head unit. There's even an adapter you can buy to make your steering wheel audio controls keep working with the new head unit, and relocating one ground wire will keep your stock trip computer working.

Here is my answer....

I ripped it out and replaced it with an Alpine CDA-9835 with SIRIUS tuner. My only regret is that I did not do it sooner.

Which wire is it for the trip computer?

I seem to remember that the wire is brown and white... but I don't know its exact location. I found the info in another thread here on the org.
