Fastest 0-60, the McLaren F1, 3.4 seconds. For less than $1,000,000, Ferrari F50 or Lamborghini Diablo 6.0, 3.6 seconds. Realistically, for less than 100,000 a Viper GTS, 4.3. Less than 50,000, M3 and Corvette are tied at 4.6.

911 Turbo or the GT2 Turbo(might not be street legal) possibly? The McLaren hasn't been in production for a couple of years. It'll pull on a Henessy Viper so its probably the fastest street car ever made. Mercedes, Porsche, etc all made some crazy homologation race cars that are almost as fast (CLK GTR, 911 GT1). There's also the Dodge Viper and its variants. The Corvette Z06 and M5 don't really have the power to compare to Vipers or 911 Turbos. The M5 is probably one of the fastest sedans ever made but the new M3 also competes in that area.

Does anyone remember the aniversary edition Trans Am GTA with the GN Turbo in it. One of the fastest production cars on Earth. 0-60 was under 5 seconds.

My friend had that first edition ZR1 and he took me for a ride. He could bring it to 80 in second gear.

Anybody ever heard of a car called the Vector? It was a late '80s concept with like 740hp that could make 80 or 100 mph in 1st gear.

These cars are nothing but full blown race cars without the logos. Can you imagine going 255 MPH?. 125 is scary enough in a Max.

I'd have to say the Corvette Z06. It's turque makes you feel like you're being exposed to extreme G forces. The M5 BMW would also be up there.

This question is pretty vague, no wonder we're getting this variety of responses.

In general, fastest means highest top speed. Quickest usally means best acceleration. Which did you mean anyway?

ah yes the turbo TA...

The turbo TA was quite a beast... same motor as the GNX (which was the fastest car GM made that year, according to Motor Trend Television) but lighter. according to one source i have they ran a 13.4 and 0-60 in 4.9. I'd say the fastest in the realistic category (under 150K ) is the Viper GTS, 911 Turbo (in all its variants, sub 4 seconds 0-60), Ferrari 360. Vette Z06 and 2001 M3 (0-60 in 4.7, tremendous performance for $48,000), Lotus Esprit V8 turbo. there are probably some others that i haent mentioned so if anyone wants to add any. The Mitsu 3KGT from the latest years went 0-60 in about 4.7 as well, but that was more a function of AWD than tremendous power (though 320 hp isnt anything to scoff at)

Dude, you can't bring up the Lotus Esprit Turbo V8 until you talk about the Inline 4 with a turbo that came before the V8. Monstrous!!!

Just estimates, but my previous car was a 94 Z28 with more than a few internal and external mods. It was dynoed at 380hp. I never truly checked the 0-60 times, but 1/4 mile was usually in the upper 12 sec range, pushing 13. I would guess 0-60 times around 4.7 or 4.8 maybe.

Try a typhoon from a 20 mph roll. The strength of that and the syclone are in the launch.
A lot of the cars mentioned arent factory cars, many are aftermarket, or ones that the production is 6 per year.
Many drivers cannot duplicate the 0-60 times of the mags, too weak a launch,or too much gas and your done in many of them. Floor a viper and your standing still, bmw Z8s are a 13 sec car, unless you ride the rev limiter(wont last),Honda S2000,shift at 6000rpm and, well take a guess.

true.. the typhoon is most dangerous at a standstill. but.. thats just cause of the awd.. its still got 285 ponies runnin with it at 20 mph... with a hypertech chip, you can bump that up to 360 horse with 440 lb foot of torque... anyone got a max that will give it a run??
