Do you feel my pain???

Here's the deal, i'm extremely depressed about this. there is a very good chance that i will be getting a sales job in about 3 weeks. at that time, i will get a fleet car for a company car. probably a taurus or something. totally free, which is great, but i will have to part with the maxima

i guess i cant picture myself shelling out $300 a month plus insurance to keep her. will probably keep it for about 3 months to make sure i like the new job.

nobody else understands....so i thought i'd post it here so i get some sympathy. i just dont understand people who are not obsessed with their cars.....

Instead of their fleet car, can't you get them to reimburse you for the payments or whatever on yours? I've heard of that before. Or is it because you are all required to be driving the same car or something? That would suck to have to go to a Taurus. Be glad it's not a Focus, at least.

Yeah, I'd keep the max and drive it on the weekends. You'll really appreciate it once you've driven that Taurus for a while. I've been driving my moms Bonneville for a month and got in the Max Yesterday and it feels SO much better.

$100 per month for insurance? That's pretty steep. I had a Taurus when I worked for Noland. What a lump of crap, but it was free. You'll miss the Maxima. I kept mine, even though I could drive the Taurus all I wanted. Personally, I think you should keep it, domestics leave a lot to be desired. You'll see, drive the Taurus for a week, then jump in the Maxima for the weekend, you'll probably end up like me, driving the maxima one day a week and not getting paid to do so. I hated that Taurus, I'm so glad it's gone. Have a company Silverado now, still junk.

I pay just over 100 a month for insurance and it doesn't bother me. All in all, its your car and you're going to end up doing what you see fit. If it was me, I'd keep the max.

I would keep the Max. Just like most of the guys here on the post share the same opinion. Again, it's your car, your decision. Do what's you think it's best for you.

How can you guys argue with putting an extra $400/mo in your pocket? Hopefully you'll like the new job. Good luck.

Don't dump the car. you never know how long that job will last, and it will be nice to have YOUR car to play with on the weekends. you can't take the company car to the track.

Because he might not have that job very long. Slaes jobs usually have a high turnover rate. If the company goes out of business, he would have to find another car if he sold his Max. I would keep it if I was in his shoes.

I can see your dilemma but the pain would felt by you once you sold your Max. You say there's a "very good chance" of getting that job. If you move too fast to get rid of your car, you might regret it.

Well... the only reason i found my car 2 years ago (with only 1,000 miles ), was b/c some guy found a new job that gave him a fleet car. So look at it this way, you might be helping put a smile on someone elses face.

I know all about sales jobs - sold cars for 3.5 years and agree that type of work does have a high turnover rate, but there are many who have been in the same sales position for years. My best friend makes his living doing outside sales and has for years. But making an assumption that the company he will be working for going out of business is like guessing the correct numbers for tonight's super lotto drawing. Even if he keep the job for 6 months, thats $2400 extra he has saved that he could put towards a new car anyways (if it came to that). I like my car a lot especially after everything I've done to it, but if I were in the same situation, I'd test it out for a few months, and if it seemed I would be there for a while, I'd dump mine.

I wasn't assuming that the company would go out of business. Just stating the facts of life. It could last a long time and it could be over in a flash. In case it is a flash in the pan, I would still have my car instead of starting from zero trying to find another good car. If I were i that situatio, I would hang on to my Max because it's such a nice car and it would be mine instead of some company's. I can pick those numbers for you if you'll split the prize with me.

That may be a blessing in disguise. With no $ going towards transportation, you can save up and buy a far better car than a maxima.

There is no way i'd keep the maxima... sell it, bank the money, and put what you were paying each money toward it in the bank. It'll add up pretty quick and when it's time to get rid of the taurus you'll have a good chunk of change to put toward the next one.

......... but you have to have some self-control and make sure you bank the extra money each month. If you're not disciplined enough to do that and woudl just blow it, keep the max but NEVER complain about not having any cash.
