Internals of 5th gen MAFS in 2k2 MAFS, possible or no?

I could have sworn i read this on this board of somebody doing this. A brand new MAFS for my 2k2 is 480, a new one for a 2k0 or a 2k1 is 124. Is it possible to use the mesh and the wire thingy in the middle and replace it on the 2k2 MAFS?

Yeah... the housing can be reused... the MAF is almost a direct replacement... ya need an extra resistor from the 2k2 MAF though... I'll see if I can find the write-up for ya...

Thanks a whole lot! So let me ask you this? The thermistor doesn't blow , its the part that the thermistor clips to that goes out? Correct?

I'm pretty sure that's it... but you should get someone else's confirmation too... like maybe someone who posted in the other thread... Jime or SR20DEN...

technicly, you do not even need the resistor. you can install it will no problems, and it will work perfectly, BUT... it will make you check engine light stay on untill you do install the resistor. Just figured i would let you know in case you need to install it right away or something

The MAF in my 2K2 blew recently. I had a Berk intake on it.
I just put an entire 2K1 MAF unit in my car and it acted crazy stalling out. Then I put the stock part back, with just the sensor from the 2K1. Now the car runs smooth, only the SES light is on. Tomorrow I'll try putting that thermistor thing on and hopefully that'll make the light turn off? I'm thinking I might just glue that little screen to the end of the MAF tube too.
