Upkeep of fabric on door panels

Just got my new 2004 Onyx Maxima SL. Love it! I'm a little concerned about the material (suede-like?) fabric that covers the door panels. Any tips on how to keep them pristine. I can see me always worrying about them, as they seem like they would be really easy to mess up. I have the black leather interior and the door panel material is black, as well.

Thanks in advance,

Jane

So far this really hasn't been a problem for me. I don't find myself ever really touching that area of the door. Maybe I'm just extra careful or something. However, after my first oil change I was horrified to find a grease spot on my door. As soon as I got home I just used a damp rag and blotted it off. The stain completely disappeared. The fabric on the doors seem to be somewhat amazingly resilient. If you're concerned about it though you could always buy some Scotchgard and spray them.

missjane - Your black swede door linings should be fine. Most stains in cars are caused by darker colors; things like ink or dirty palm prints. These don't show up as much on dark surfaces.

I have light colored swede in my silver SL, and, although it is much more susceptable to marring than your black, I haven't had the first problem in the five months I have had it. Of course, I am extremely fastidious about taking care of my Maxima.
