My 95 pearl white SE was totalled recently and I am in the process of settling with the insurance company. The accident was not my fault so it is the other parties insurance company. I have done extensive research on values and I think I'm prepared to get a fair settlement.

Should I inquire about retaining the vehicle to use for parts?

What should I expect to pay for the car?

As I said it is a 95 SE with leather interior, duel electric seats, no mods, 199,000 miles and in good+ condition. Its got a lot of miles but most are highway with no passengers so its in better than good condition for its age...with the exception of the rearend damage it now has from the accident. It is not rebuildable. The damage twisted the body and frame making a rebuild expensive.

I also have a 96 pearl white SE and will like buy another Maxima to replace this one so the question should I try to keep this one for parts and possibly part it out?

I would being that you have a 96 also.

I know of a guy who got a totaled 95 for $300, it's a great parts car. Start there and move up, but I would'nt go passed 800.

 

U can probably get the car back for 300-500$ but since alot of the parts are fine u will get that money back in no time , btw if u want to sell that leather interior ill buy it

 

If about $500 or less and you have space to park it until selling most of parts you should be able to triple your investment. Good luck.

 

If you are serious about parting the thing out, I say yes try to buy it back. Even at $1000, especially for a pearl white max, if there are a number of good conditions body panels left, or a good interior, or a good engine bay, you could make a tidy profit on it. Just depends how long you want to wait to turn your profit, because the stuff won't sell overnight, but if you are willing to taking the thing apart yourself and wait over a period of a month or two, you could probably sell most every good part on the car, and make well more than $1000 in doing so.

 

My sons 96 maxima was rearended by a motorcycle. the trunk was pushed up slightly but not dented at all and the quarter panel slightly dented. the rear window was blown out. do you think there is any frame damage?

 

If the panels are jus misaligned then i wd say no. But a pic would def help.

As for the new guys question... motorcycle probably didnt bend the frame... but as cashoit said, a pic would help to be sure. the crash probably just screwed up the bumper support and trunk mount area... fixable but possibly costly as the rear end parts arent removable, you have to cut and weld or do patch jobs... well accept for the bumper and trunk of course...
