Manual Radiator Fan?

has anyone done the manual radiator fan mod on a 2000-2001? i have looked at both the 4th gen and the 5.5 gen version. but i cant find the Pin number to use from the ECU?

are the 2000-2001 ECUs the same as the 4th gen? totally different ? or the same as the 5.5 gen?

I too would like to know this. I live in florida and summer is on its way (its summer 100% in FL) and when I go to the races, this would be a functional benifical mod.

Not sure why anyone would want to do this to a Maxima. It would be more beneficial to remove the drive belt from your A/C compressor and use a shortened belt, and then just turn the a/c switch on, which forces the radiator fan to run. Haven't tried that, though.

If it's like most other cars you need to run a wire between the two outer posts of the rad. fan relay with a SPST (NO or normally open) toggle switch in the middle? or just find the +12v power lead going to the fan motor and wire it direct to battery + terminal.

well first off.. i know for a fact that your wrong.. the rad fan always has a power supply. it is simply switched on by a relay. which supplies a ground.. therefor compleating the circuit.

can someone tell me where the ecm is located. cause that would help out a great deal

what u can do on most cars is if u can find the sensor that kicks the fan on and just jump the wirest. I'll see if i can find it sometime, unless someone knows where it is. Its usualy a little sensor with two wires coming out of it that is connected somewhere to a radiator hose.

i dont know if that would work either.. simply because that would only send a tempeture signal back to the ecu.

If anyone has the hanyes manual for a 2000-2001 can you please tell me what color wire is used to connect the Radiator fan (high speed) to the ECU? ussually it has initials like LG / LG/R Y/W stuff like that.. and the high speed pin would have an H at the end of its initials rather than a L

I did it to my car, ill look up on what wires i tapped into the ECM cooling fan high is #34 (LG) and cooling fan low is #35 (BR/R)... make sure you have a DPDT switch or else it WILL NOT WORK... i use this only for track purposes, i dont know about everyday stuff ... i think the maximas cooling fans turn on fine the way they are!!

if you have anymore questions feel free to let me know!!
