Driver side headlight blowing out.. not cool
On my way home tonight the highbeams on my brand new silverstars went out on the driver side. Needless to say it happened at the worst possible time, with 3 hours left to drive and fog and snow/ice covering large stretches of road. This isnt the first time this has happened. Sometimes lowbeams will go out but if I pop the hood and give it a smack it goes back on. Other times it just blows, I've had to replace the driver headlight atleast 4 times in the last 12 months. Since these new silverstars had less than 20 hours on them, im starting to think something is screwy the harnnes or connector.
I know it's kinda a vauge problem but has anyone else had this happen? I'm sick of having to buy bulbs, especially when I dumped $50 on a nice new set.
Any tips would help

Did you ever have high wattage bulbs in there? If you did...they most likely burnt the wire harness for the headlights. It happened on my 3rd gen.. I could f8ck with it a little bit and the light would come back on.
I doubt Silverstars would blow that quickly...I've had mine since July '04 and they're still great.

Unplug your headlight socket and look at it,see if the socket are melting, then your headlight are prolly not getting enough ground, that's why they run hotter and blow.If it does then go to auto part or Ebay to get better one for your car.Good luck.
I just noticed another guy had similar problems a few posts down, I'm going to look over the harness and connectors. I'm getting sick of crappy halogens anyway, this problem may just let me self rationalize spending $500 on making some cefiro projectors.
clean the contacts on both sides with contact cleaner, and maybe scrub them lightly. then put a thin layer of dielectric grease on the contacts. Works for me and my overwatts, stock harness.

I'm now going to be replacing my driver's headlight for the 3rd time in less than 8k miles. Went out again tonight and I *just* replaced it like a few weeks ago. I figured it can't possibly be the bulbs, even though I am doing a lot of night driving lately. Hmm.... grounds make sense.
Thanks.
