No more Gen I MAFS, NIssan is using Gen II now.

Well tried to use a gen II MAFS for 2k0,2k1 Maxes. Unfortuantely it didn't work
.....Nissan stop using the old gen I MAFS for these cars last month. These new gen II MAFS now have to be programed into your ecu. And they don't wonk with 2k2 or 2k3 maxes. I was going to do that little switch a roo with the thermosit and swap it onto the 2k0,2k1 MAFS. Doesn't work.....
Found an AM600 MAFS in a local salvage yard , a 2k2 max got nailed in the rear. Hooked it up and it works fine now, just wanted to let any 2k2 or 2k3 just in case you wanted to use a 2k0 or 2k1 MAFS. You still can but you are going to have to find it off a salvaged/wrecked 2k0,2k1 max because Nissan is now selling the newer programable ones that don't work with our 2k2 orr 2k3 cars.
AM600 MAFS(2k2/2k3)-$488
GennII MAFS(2k0/2k1)-$124
Salvage AM600 -$150

Pray 2k2 or 2k3 owners your MAFS sensor don't blow,or else you will be screwed paying 488! There has to e a company out there that mass produce these things for alot less. $ 488 , thats moding money!!!!
I bought the 2k1 MAF last month.
And there are other options. BMW and most German autos use the Bosch versions of what we have. Ours are labeled JECS but are essentually the same thing. We just have to find the right one for a direct connect.

I just called Nissan to veriffy this, yes they updated the MAFs for us 00-01s. I'm gonna give it a try and see if this is true. It requires a ECU update also. Price is pretty much same as the older MAF. 22680-AD210 is now obsolete, and dat sux cause I have 2 brand new ones in the box in case mine goes out again.

So 2k1 owners who were buying just the maf sensor from Dave B for $80 are out of luck now? I have been reading that only the sensor needed to be replaced without ecu updating? Lil confused over here...
I will sell off 2 of my 2001 MAFs which are in the box brand new
I recomend H-tech with Illuminas for a little stiffer ride vs SE suspension, the drop will not be really that noticable. Maxspeeds are not to stiff eighter. I drove a car with Prokits and stock shocks, had like 30K miles on it- came in on a trade in with that stuff on, and it rode little bit stiffer than stock, and handled much nicer.
Emanage lets you run any MAF you would like, and TTZ and Q45 MAFs do not blow up like the A33 Maxima MAF does. Sometimes I think if I hit a big enough pot hole the MAF will fall apart into pieces. Problem with Emanage, is you need to know what your doing or you WILL need a new engine.

I am new to this and picking up my 02 next week.
Are you saying that the Gen II's sucked and people with 02-03 were replacing them with the gen I's (00-01)? Now the Gen I isn't available anymore so the 02-03 guys will have to use the originals made for their cars and people with 00-01 are going to have to get an ECU update and start running the same ones that 02-03 folks have stock?
Basically are people with a 02-03 Max going to have to have anything special?

226806N201
22680-AM600
But now there's just the AM600 (that's what has been said), which is supposedly the sturdier one that won't blow so easily....
For the 2k3 there only the 22680-AM600...

Funny i got my A600 off of 02'Max??? Guy read the vin number at the salvage yard as a 02'Max. Maybe nissan started putting the A600 in the late 4th qtr 02's (Sep-December)

You can use the two on your car, just when those two go out your screwed. You will have to find a slavaged one or buy new from Nissan. Hey at least if you have to buy a new one , you only have to pay $124 compared to us 2k2/2k3 guys, a wallet sucking $488!

I emailed DAVEB about this and he says that he hasn't had anyone report to him that the updated 2k/2k1 MAFs he's selling don't work on 2k2/2k3...
I think we need to dig into this some more...

Well unless i did something wrong, it didn't work, i did everything that puppetmaster gave me on that right up, from the link he found for me. Are you sure DAVEB knows what MAFS he is using? The nissan parts guys said there were two models the old one and this gen II MAFS. He gave me the genII because Nissan stop selling the gen I last month. He told me and i quote" Sir you will have to update this ECU inorder for this MAFS to work". I lied to him and told him that i had a 01 Max, because the other dealership wouldn't sell me a 01 MAFS for a 2k2 vehicle. Something about liability on there part....
Hooked it up and my car sputtered , wouldn't rev past 3500, slightly better than my busted 2k2 MAFS which only revved to 2500. This is with the car driving.... i am sorry but half way working in my book is not working at all.
