Looking for a "Mild" Performance brake setup..SS Lines and Rotors..Brembo??

I am going to start autocrossing my '95 Maxima and have purchased a set of EBC GreenStuff Pads. I am now looking to get SS lines and performance rotors. My question for you guys is what kind of rotors should I get? Cross Drilled? Slotted? or both? Is there any difference between name brand rotors like brembo vs. eBay's? I know there will be, but is it signifact for the performance aspect? I just want a good affordable brake setup that will help my braking/cooling of brakes. I want something that will "bite" hard, but will also be sufficient for daily driving/longevity. If I do end up getting into autocrossing I will gey a BBK, but for now I need a Mild setup. Also I have heard of these rotors warping and cracking easily, any input on this? All input is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

-Nick

I have been very happy with my setup, which includes Brembo slotted rotors.

go with brembo's for quality, and dont' get them drilled... slotted or dimpled instead..

Rotors are pretty much rotors when it comes to performance. Crossdrilled or slotted wont help you much in autoX, if you insist on one of the two though, slotted is the way to go. Name brand rotors like brembo may last longer, but the performance won't be any better or worse.

More important is your pads. I'd suggest some better pads, but since you already got the EBC you may as well try those. They aren't the top of the class though.

I really like them for street and autox use. They aren't enough pad for road course use but on the street and autox they are great.

i autocrossed both of my maxes with stock set up in my 02 and slotted brembos and stillen metal matrix pads in my 96. The differecne wasnt that much, stock set up held up nicly, just make sure u dont wait in line with ur foot on the brake and car in park, i warped my rotors in my 96 doing that

So, are Hawk HPS+ the best choice for street use? Are there any other street pads that are better? Also, where is the best place to buy pads and SS brake lines (front and rear)? I'm gonna need some pads fairly soon, and want to improve my street performance braking.

There are other pads comparable to Hawk HPS+ out there. I just recommend them because I have always been happy with Hawk pads, and the price is right on them as well.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!
Where can I get the HPS+ for a decent price? Neal what do you feel the EBC's will do me for mild autox, will they out perform stock or should I really look into getting Hawks? Let me know your opinion on this please. Triple8Sol does maxedup have really good prices or something? Also does he sell Brembo or what not?

Thanks again guys,

-Nick

Pretty much any aftermarket performance oriented pad will outperform stock pads. This includes hawk hps and EBC green, it's just that of those two, hawk is better, but ebc green will still be better than oem.

You can get hawk through Tirerack amongst other places. I think that's where I got my last set from.

Thanks Nealoc187, I'll check them out. Is there any other org affiliated company that sells the Hawk HPS+ ? Any other feedback about street pads? Thanks in advance.

One thing I would suggest for rotors: Get plated rotors (cadmium plated), so the rotor hats and edges don't rust and look really ugly. If you do get unplated rotors, you should spray paint the rotor hats so they don't rust. I think those rusty rotors are aweful looking.

i would recommend the HAWK HPS+ pads. they dust a little bit but they work very well. I also would get slotted or dimpled rotors. i'm not a fan of the x-drilled, it weakens the rotors. make sure to get plated or powdercoated rotors also.
