Help - Sudden Significant Gas Mileage Drop

Can someone hopefully give me an idea of what may be the problem before I take it somewhere to get it fixed.

2000 Maxima
61k miles

the last 3 tanks of gas, I have gotten 100-110 less miles than the average. I am driving the same way with the same mods as always - nothing variable in any of that. It wasn't a gradual drop either - just one time, I filled up and I had about 100 less miles. I thought it was just an oddity so I didn't worry about it - same thing for the last 2 tanks. - Just a sudden drop. There is no check engine light, nothing and the car 'feels' like it's running fine. I haven't let it warm up in the morning or anything like that - I am still driving to work the same way.

Anyway, I hope someone can give me some pointers before I go get screwed by the dealership/some mechanic.

Thanks in advance.

Did you get a sudden cold snap of weather? My milage went from about 26-27 mpg to anywhere from 19-22 when we hit the cold weather up here. I tend to have a heavy foot, so that doesn't help, but the colder, more dense air will DEFINITELY drop your gas milage. On the plus side, you're making more power Just a thought...

Thanks for responding - yes, there has been a sudden cold snap, but I have had this car for 4.5 years and I have been through many cold snaps without this kind of drop.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion - I'll just go get some vaseline and prepare to bend over.
