i'm thinking about getting the reverse glow gauges for my max but don't quite know how to install it. i can get access to my gauges and i heard you don't have to remove the needles. you just place the new ones on top of it with the adhesive or double sided tape. also does anyone know where the wire for the corner lights or headlights are inside the car? i need to know which wires they are so i don't have to connect the gauges to the wires under the hood.

 

i dont think you have to take off the needles.. but i might be wrong.. the direcs for removing the dash parts is in the how-to section of the stickies i believe

 

You wire it to the BLUE and BLACK wires for the dimmer switch on the dash. DO NOT remove the needles.

 

they slide over the needles. if you pull off the needles you will screw them up if they are pulled off wrong

 

A lot of people don't recommend this. There's a likely chance you will mess up your needles and cause them to stick giving you inaccurate MPH and RPM readings and possibly and likely not working at all.

 

dont pull the needles off all u do is slide them over make holes for the screws and screw in the new gauges then run the wires up and what not

 

yea, been over this a few times. the whole thing is not worth it all all. you just have to slide the new faces over the old ones and secure then down with thehopefully supllied 3m double stick tape.

problem with this is a few things, theres a good chance youll f the needles up, even if you dont take them off. the slightest bit of pressure on either side of the needle WILL cause it to stick in certain areas, resulting in a jumping needle. believe me, after about 2 hours of having them on, the needle decided to be stuck at 30 mph. even with them now removed, my rpm needle likes to stay at 0rpm even when im driving, but then jumps up to where it should be after tapping the instrument panel.

another thing, if you have good hearing, the power inverter that the gauges come with will make an annoyingly high pitched whistling that'll contribute to anyones road rage.

IMHO, dont do it it.
