honestly, unless your cat is bad... keep it stock... AM cats sound like crap to me... but still not as bad as a straight pipe... especially since you are adding a y-pipe to the stock catback, the "high-flow" cat you are paying extra for is only going to make the sound worse, and only render about 1-2 hp IF THAT!

just get the y-pipe... save some money for a catback... or suspension or whatever...

When i put a test pipe on my old max to replace my cat it didn't change the sound at all (but i kept stock b-pipe and resonator). Just some FYI i think it really depends on the total setup. Cause right now i have a custom 2.5 mandral bent catback, warspeed Y and stock cat, and i think my exhaust sounds like total @ss.

i don't think i have every seen one...

exit10, my opinion is if you are modding your car, the exhaust is shot, and you were planning on upgrading anyways, just do it now... if money permits...

i got the ce y and hi flow cat....the sound is perfect in my opinion,, i have an apexi ws muffler and a resonator from a greddy kit,, big barrel shaped...the exhaust guy did say that the "hi flow" cat was just a cheap one that you can get at autozone or whatever...the y-pipe is "one of the better ones" he's installed...hope that helps

they are saying keep the stock cat but that doesnt seem to be an option for you. I cna check with my acct tommorrow if you want to get you one, I beleive the last i got for someone was in the area of 65 dollars plus ship. I wholesale from a spot in fla. let me know if interested.

exit10: why don't you go with a magnaflow cat, they perform and sound good. Random Cats are ok I'm either way on them some people say they are wonderful and others say they had to replace theirs after a few months because they got fouled up and smelled like rotten eggs. Definitely Avoid Catco Cats they just plain suck.

when i added my WS 99 cali y-pipe, my exhaust became louder than stock my Injen got louder too, but not so loud because i'm still using my stock cat, stock b-pipe and muffler. but once i get apexi WS it should be a nice and throaty sound, and still not too loud.

2 much max: give Warpsped a call. i think they do 3 inch y-pipe for SC applications

Nothing is worth $50 from CE. I can't believe people continue to buy from such a sh!tty company.

Ive personally never had any problems with them, and Im not saying that they dont make screw ups. But if you read that thread, a large part of the problems is just whining about how they dont answer emails. Easy solution to that. Its called picking up a phone and yelling at them.

I believe he did, that's what he wrote when they never answered his emails after a few days. I can totally relate to Broaner's frustrations. For the most part, I think that buying online is risky business. I'll never buy big stuff online. I'd rather pay a little more and see what I'm getting and actually have it in my hands. And if there's any problems with it, you can find them at their store. They can't hide behind emails, nor phone calls. And if the problem isn't resolved, small claims will! In many different disputes and issues in dealing with retailers, it is also useful to take notes. Write down the person's name, time and date stamp it, and abstract description of what had happened. I know I've developed this skill from working at several tech help desks. Now everytime I have had to deal with different people for different issues, I just write everything down and sometimes I end up with a notebook full of info that I can use to back me up in court if it needs to go there.

On the other hand (going back to topic), not every mod under the sun will enhance performance. Just research and do your homework and even if the end result is unsatisfactory, at least you know better and recommend against it to others.

I agree; phone conversations are always better. But at CE that goes nowhere fast. I called many times and got the run-around. When I finally got to speak to someone with enough authority to do more than say hello I was told to send him an email. Ha...
