Driving without the wheel well shield?

After my accident my driver side wheel well shield fell off. Is it ok to drive without it? Im not planning to rally or off road but I can see a bundle of exposed wires that look like they are tightly wrapped with electrical tape. Will water or road grime affect that bundle of wires?

I just removed mine. You should have no problems with the wires from water. Just be aware that large gravel has a very large potential to dent your fender from the inside or cut the wire. Your road noise will increase also.
