what bank is what?

Hello I have searched threw the entire code reader thread and tried several different search topics and not found me answer is bank 1 radiator side of the engine or fire wall side of engine?

hopefully this title will make it easier to find in the future using search.

I found the answer quite easily through search, with multiple different search keywords

Lets use common knowledge of Nissan engines. If you ever own another Nissan /w a V6, please, do remember...looking at the front of the engine (where the timing cover is is the front!), the left is bank 1, the right is bank 2. The Left (Bank 1) has cylinders 1,3, and 5, the right (bank 2) has cylinders 2,4, and 6. This is how every Nissan V6 has been since day 1 in 1983 for the VG.

Also, technically bank 1 is the right hand bank in a Front Engine, RWD layout but thats not important here. :P

The rear bank (bank 1) is technically the right side of the motor.

Remember, all automotive directions are as if you're sitting in the driver's seat... (and they tend to be focused on a RWD mounted drivetrain).

Point being if you're referring to a side of the motor, short of using front or rear you should use left/right as standing behind the motor, facing towards the flywheel/flexplate..

Is that not what I said? "Bank 1 is the right hand bank in a front engine, rear drive vehicle"

By that I was giving an example of where it would actually be on the right side, not the "back", or "near the firewall"

Yes, but you mentioned it as kind of an afterthought (calling bank 1 the left bank at first), and also said that it's 'not important here'. Regardless of how the engine is mounted, the left bank is the left bank and same for the right, you always look from the back of the engine.
