95 Thermostat Location

I am helping my mother replace the thermostat in her max. Can someone tell me, or direct me to a diagram, as to where I can find the thermostat in the engine comp. Thanks

dang, good link. I just replaced mine the other day, just try to drain as much as you can before removing anything.

1) drain radiator
2) open water pump plug
3) remove hose
4) remove thermostat. The leftmost nut is hard to get to, I used an open wrench.

FSM says to replace the gasket. It's cheap, so pick it up while you're getting the thermostat. Cheapest place for thermostat/gasket is definitely dealership. AutoZone, Kragen, and PepBoyz are all $10 more expensive, and only include the thermostat and not the housing. Dealership gives you housing.

When re-installing, it only takes about 8 lb/ft torque, so don't overdo it.

When you're all done, get a hose and wash your engine bay and body panels in case you spashed coolant somewhere. Take care w/the alternator too.
