TCS/Slip/Service Engine all lit while driving!
Newbie to this forum but have found forums invaluable for other interests I have. Our 2000 GXE is doing weird things - often now when the car is started the traction control / slip / and service engine warning lights all come on and stay on. The car runs and is driveable. Sometimes however, this is accompanied by a mild 'bucking' sensation while driving. Today, it started fine then lit up on me while driving complete with the bucking. Stopped at a light, bucking stopped when I went again but all warning lights stayed on. Car goes to Nissan dealer tomorrow - just want any background help I can get about what this might be before the dealer gives me his version. Thanks for your help!
I GOT THE SAME THING ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE DRIVING IN A SNOW STORM AND MY MAX WAS BOGGING DOWN LIKE CRAZY WITH TCS/SES/SLIP LITES ON. COULD NOT GET THE CAR PASSED 25OO RPM AND 45 MPH! TOOK TO DEALER TODAY 1/22 AND THEY SAID CAR NEEDS A MASS AIRFLOW METER, NOT THE ACTUAL SENSOR BUT THE METER, I SHOULD BE PICKING IT UP IN LIL WHILE SO I CAN ACTUALLY SEE WHAT CODE IT BROUGHT UP, OH AND NOT COVERED UNDER MY 5YR/60K WARRANTY AND I ONLY HAVE 56K ON MY 01 AE SE, DEALER TRIED TO SAY IT WAS CAUSED BY MY K&N DROP IN FILTER, BUT I'VE USED THE K&N DROP IN SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR BACK IN 01 AND CLEAN THE FILTER PERIODICALLY AS WELL! WILL BE PURCHASING THE EXT WARRANTY TO 84MONTHS/100K . SO GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR CAR AND LET ME KNOW IF THEY TELL YOU IT'S THE SAME THING ( MASS AIRFLOW METER ) THESES STEALERS REALLY LIKE TO TAKE PEOPLE FOR A RIDE. ALSO NOTE I JUST HAD CAR IN DEALER LIKE 5 DAYS BEFORE THIS HAPPENED TO HAVE 2 REAR O2 SENSORS REPLACED! ( FOR THE LOW LOW PRICE OF $650 )
Update - better late than never ... took my car in and it turned out to be the infamous bad ignition coils. Dealer claims when the onboard computer diagnoses this problem it may shut down other systems (like tcs) hence those lights come on. Thankfully I had extended warranty and was covered for replacement of 6 new coils. It's only been just over a week but I haven't seen the problem again since whereas I used to see it daily before the fix.
