Wow I just changed my suspension over form stock to an Eibach/Koni setup. Now I expected it to be stiff but not bouncy. I drove forty miles home from my mechanic and I can barely stand it. Any ideas? I have the dampeners turned all the way down(softest). Does anyone think cranking the firmness would remove the bounce? Please provide feedback especially if you have the same setup. - Kevin

I have the same setup in my 95, and I have the fronts at about 2 turns, and the rears at about 3/4 of max, I forget what max was. I don't like the softest setting, and feel at least one turn is necessary. As for the rear, I think I might like it a little firmer, but don't think it is worth it to take the struts off and re-adjust them as they as just about right. It just takes some playing with. . . The fronts affect the ride more than the rears, so adjusting them should solvew most of your problems.

I have the same setup on my 98 Max SE and I don't have the bounciness feeling you are getting. Mine is alot more firmer than the stock SE springs. Not sure why you're feeling that much bounce but mine is set on the softest setting too. I'd have it checked out by the people you had it done with.

Well we cramked down the fronts. No prolem. Things are much better. But we also cranked down the rears by turning the Allen screw on the top. Does anyone know if this works for the rears? Or do they have to be removed to stiffen them? - Kevin

One things for sure the car is on a rail in the turns

Kon's and Eibachs

So wait. I was checking out Koni's website and they suggest Koni Sports which are Yellow for the Max. Tire Rack sent me Red Ones? Which implies Specials. Any feedback? - Kevin

I thought only the yellows were available, I don't think I have ever heard anyone getting reds, although they could be new or something. Were both the fronts and rears red, because I know mine and I think everyone else's are yellow.

That's expected behavior

Shocks dampen the action of the springs. So, if your springs are stiffer, you need stiffer shocks to dampen them. With the Koni's on the light setting, the spring is overwhelming the shocks abillity to control the bounce. A firmer setting will reduce the bounce.

hey krosenb i don't think its boucy

i think you mean "bumpy". this is expected once you have stiffer springs and especially when you lower the car. you just never noticed it before b/c your stock springs were so soft. ever since i'v lowered my car, i have felt every little bump in the road and i have H&R's. as far as the Koni adjustment, i drove on the softest setting, 2 half-turns and three half-turns and none of these settings cured the bumpiness. the settings give the car a firmer feel, and personally i think the softest setting still had plenty of rebound control. the setting are mainly there to compensate for wear.
