just curious how the newer cars are going turbo or s/c. either that or it looks like maybe the next step might be an 8 cylinder.

no. The maxima's whole reason for being is the VQ. Ward's automotive started the 10 best engine list because of the vq in the maxima. It's even been on the list every year.

i don't think nissan will put a turbo in it. We'll be lucky if they actually drop one in on the GTR when it arrives. It doesn't help that none of the cars nissan/infiniti currently offers has a turbo. The Frontier/Xterra superchargers are going away with the 05 model years, so everything is now Naturally Aspirated.

if they don't even put a stock turbo in a 350Z or G35 they definitely not going to put one in a maxima...

I was hoping for a turbo in the Anniversary Z, but they made it 300HP NA so, we wont see a turbo unless we buy it outselves.

Unless the platform was changed to AWD or RWD (not likley), I really doubt Nissan would make the Maxima a 350HP FWD turbocharged monster considering the torque steer that would bring.

that would be very interesting. what class do you think we would be in if this did happen. would we outperform most of the turbo'd cars now like evo, neon etc.but i guess some of you are right the Z gots to come first if anything, and also why did they take the turbo from the Z.

It doesnt need them. The NA VQ makes the same 300hp now that the old VG30DETT did.

i doubt that they will come out with a boosted max. (that is if they keep the max in production) and besides the point, Maxima's are already giving enough power as it is.
If they would to come out with a boosted max, im sure they would do it on an altima first.

i don't think they will turbo or supercharge the maxima for a while. i'm just holding my breath for a Turbo G35 Coupe AWD or 350Z. I'm sure nissan will let us down.

Iono, maybe they will put out a 4dr turbo car, competion with the evo and sti, Lets call it the Maxima-X or Maxima GT-X or something cool like that, I dont know why nissan doesnt make competion with the 4dr super cars. It would be pretty smart.

i wouldnt think so. the 300Z didn't have any issues as long as you didnt tamper with it, but who am i kidding.it would be nice once someone turbos the new gens themselves to see what kind of numbers it makes and reliability issues.

No, i doubt that they would ever do this. The max is the family sedan. I doubt they would ever put FI in one of the leading family sedans. Most pople who drive maximas are more interested in having room for there grocerys and baby seats. It defiently would be sweet if they did. The Z or G35 would be first in line. I would like to see a company like roush or saleen arise for the maxima community. Well time for work..

ya the z's didnt have any issues until about 80-100k then you have to replace every piece of rubber and most of the sensors in the damn thing. For being how complicated they are some things are still easy to work on though. I've been having fun with mine, but everytime you fix one problem another one pops up.

Also i don't think nissan will S/C the maxy, if they were going to S/C any Sedan i would put money on the altima.

nope, i highly doubt we'll ever see a stock turbo maxima.... from what i'm noticing, nissan is pushing the altima to become the "4 door sports car" of new, and the maxima is going more and more towards a luxury sedan.
