Intake question, need opinions

Which intake should i get? Jim Wolf Popcharger or the Frankencar Hybrid Intake? For those who have them, tell me what you think of the performance and sound of your intake. Thanks in advance for all the advice.

just go on e-bay and buy a bomz or something like that for 40$ or something along those lines, if you go with a cai keep in mind you have to cut a 3" hole in your drivers side fender to run the pipe through. Next time consult the faqs

Yep. However, if you do go aftermarket go with the cheapest one possible, because it's not going to give you noticeable gains. To tell you the truth, just drop a K&N panel filter in your airbox and be done with it.

I have the JWT and it roars when I step on it. I can't say I have noticed any decrease in power. The midpipes are dyno proven to lose a significant amount of hp/tq in certain ranges compared to stock, but they supposedly give a very deep roar (if thats what you're looking for).

Personally, I think the stock airbox is really restrictive.

I've never seen a dyno show 'significant' change in either direction...do you have a link?

So have you guys seen any significant gains with a true CAI? I bought one on ebay for my 3rd gen and there were noticeable gains in high-end power and didn't seem to be any losses, had to drill a hole in the engine bay but it was worth it.

The only way I'd believe in a performance difference is if you did back to back runs to compare stock vs. XXX...and even then, the margin for error is pretty high (am I right in saying that dynos have a ~5-10 WHP margin of error?)

Unless the intake is adding more than ~5 HP, I'd argue that it won't be conclusive with a simple back to back run. Do multiple runs stock, average them out, then do the same for the aftermarket intake...then we're getting somewhere.

The reason I doubt you will see a dyno that shows 'signifigant' gains is because it would have to be ~5WHP or more to consistently show on a dyno.

(or I'm totally wrong )

Stay with stock. Because even the sound gets annoying. I've had franken car with JWT filter, and also jsut the JWT POP, and personally I liked the frankencar better, but after a few years of intake noise, I went back to stock, and don't regret it.

I cut a hole in my stock airbox and I love the sound. I had a $170 Cattman hybrid intake sitting in my room and I figured, what the hell, might as well try cutting the stock box first. I did it, and absolutely loved the sound. It cost me $0.00 and I sent the intake back to Cattman and got my money back. You don't hear the sound under normal driving, but when you get to >75% throttle, you start to hear it and at WOT, it really roars.

At least consider trying this free mod before dropping money on any intake, because none are really proven to give significant gains for the money.
