intake upgrage

intake upgrage

I was thinking of upgrading my intake pipping right now all i have is the stillen intake air filter all the other stuff is stock. .I wanted do upgrade to like a 3.5inch pipping but i have no idea how i wanted ro get rid of that factor rubber box thing and would getting the nwp throttle body help? Im getting a tune in the near future my car is a auto

There are many threads for this, so it may be worth a search.

You can install a RAM intake which shortens the distance for air flow into the motor, which there are a lot of options on the forums for, such as members selling them. You can also go with a cold air intake. Injen makes one which is okay, but RAM intakes and Injens CAI both leave air draw kind of hot. Ideally you want cooler air, and more of it, coming into the motor. Of course, you can always build your own.

I know the MAF housing is less than 3" in diameter, and the throttle body is 70mm, so those are more expensive things to replace, but are doable. A new MAF housing will require a tune - I think.

The mod I like best for intakes is the Ghetto Air Box mod which you can find DIYs here on the forums. Just requires some drilling into the filter box under the hood which you already have. I haven't done it, but had I known better before, and wasn't planning to get rid of all this stuff, I would have done the GAB mod a long time ago. I have the Injen CAI, which is easy, has nice sound, and gains are negligible, but it's not worth the price for its actual function.

The NWP upgrades are fantastic, and I'd highly recommend them, BUT, there's nothing easier than the GAB mod. NWP's stuff is great, but is expensive and harder to install in comparison to just an intake mod.

Yea i I've been trying to find a diy post like a tutorial or somethinf no luck i have nwp bop and cxj spacers obx headers and catback exhaust im still debating on the bug throttle body is it worth getting the nwp torque bar since i have an auto

Is not worth to install the torque bar. I have it and sold it ,to much vibration on the car.

Thanks! Good to know and quick questions i have never been able to get a answer i have cxj performance intake spacers will the nwp throttle body fit on it? In know the spacers are a lot thicker then nwp

Really easy GAB mod. Just requires a coat hanger. No drilling needed.

For the spacers, you'll just have to figure out what size they are and compare the difference. NWP provides bolts with their TB kit for either stock or their phenolic/econ spacers, or those of an equivalent size. Their spacers are 1/4" thick. So you'd have to find the size of the CXJ spacers and add that length to the stock bolts to find the correct size.

Hmmm i think i might leave the stock throttle body 330 dollars is a lot for a 5mm difference tb

It also comes with their TB adapter that has some advanced design. With a SSIM, it's been dyno proven up to 10+ horsepower, I think 6-8 without. I'll admit, for 330 bucks, it's a lot for that number, but you have to pay to play. Honestly, with all the NWP intake upgrades, including the BOP, the car does gain some significant power. It's nothing crazy though. So I don't blame you for not wanting to shell out for the TB. The spacers are definitely worth the money though.

is there any advantage or disadvantage to just add a filter to the MAF housing and removing the rest of the OEM parts?

My opinion is in all these thread, links, and background info.

But, if you’re not into all that, the JWT POP is the best bang for the buck. Easiest install, least amount of hassle and best benefit, but look closely into the threads I’ve posted here and you can see all of the more recent intake developments.
