Front and rear slotted & cross-drilled iRotors were ~$300 shipped.

Hey Semy2k2go, you put in 2k4 rotors onto your 5.5 gen??? Are they a direct fit? Did you have problems with clearence? Are they better in stopping power? Sorry for all the questions, but I needed to replace my brakes soon. Was looking at regular slotted/cross drilled from Brembo, but 2k4 rotors are suppose to be better. Was wondering how it is on ur's

I've had them on for over 6 months now mated up to OEM pads and they are "perfect". Car doesn't pull to one side or shake at all.

interesting. if they are a direct swap, i will get me a pair for the front.

Semy2k2go, where did you get a pair made for the 2k2-2k3 maxima? are they the same size as the 2k2-2k3 rotors or the same size as 2k4 and up rotors cause arent 6th gen maxima rotors bigger?

I purchased mine through an eBay auction that iRotors had going on them. They were a direct replacement for my OEM 2k2-2k3 versions. No modifications needed at all. I couldn't be happier with the performance out of these along with the OEM pads especially only costing me around $300.

front calipers are the same from 89-99.
They got slightly larger in 2000-2001.
slightly larger again in 2002-2003.
Even larger for 2004-2005.

The major brake warpage problems started occuring in the 2000-2001 models, so I designed a bracket so you can use your 2000-2001 calipers and relocate them over the 2004 rotors.. This saves you the cost of replacing calipers for those of you that want to keep them. The setup also fits under the stock 17" wheels. (not the 16s)

You can see some pics and more info of it on my webpage..

(and no, I'm not tyring to ***** up this thread... you guys asked why he's putting 2k4 rotors on a 2k1, and I'm telling you. )

so do you make a bracket for the 3rd/4th gen to use 2004 rotors? Because I bought one (from another member ), but think it might be for the 2000-2001's :-/

ya i wonder to i the brakets will fit 4th gens to, cause 00-01 calipers looks almost exact as 99 calipers, and brake pads and rotors have the same part #s.

I want some 2k4 rotors but dont have the money for the any calipers!! lol

Maxspeed, the 99 and 00-01 are completely different brake systems. They use the same size pads, but the rotors and calipers are different. The calipers are about 4mm wider to accomodate the thicker rotors for 2000. Overall diameter is still the same though.
89-99 use the same front brakes, then it's 00-01, 02-03, and 04-05.
95-2003 all use the same REAR brakes.
Brake Pads are the same from 89 through at least 2001. on the front and rear.

You *could* grind out some of the 4th gen caliper to make it fit over the 2004 rotor with my relocation bracket, but I wouldn't recommend that. you'd have to remove about 4mm of metal there, and I don't want the liability of someone doing that and then something catastrphic happening. It's scary enough selling brake parts in general- you never know what bonehead is going to screw something up using your parts, wreck their car, then come back and sue me because they're stoopid!

shawn, you bought my 300ZX relocation bracket, not the stock 5th gen relo bracket, correct? The 300ZX relo bracket will fit any 3-4 gen, and I have another bracket to fit the 5 gen cars. If you bought a 5th gen 300ZX relo bracket used, then you'll need to drill out your spindles on the car for 14mm bolts. That's the only difference between the 3/4 and the 5 gen

Thank you sir!

I just wanted to make sure you actually made a bracket for the 3rd/4th gen, I never really hear about it anymore and wanted to make sure lol. I bought it with my calipers and stuff, it wasn't really the high point of the package I bought (the calipers were ). Anywho, I was going back and forth between using the 12.6" or the cobra, but I figure it will be another $80 to use the cobras so I think I'll just stick with the 12.6"s. I dont really drive hard anymore :-/ The Irotors sound pretty good aswell, I'll have to see the price difference between them and Napa

Thanks again Matt

Just to elaborate on what Matt said, I ground my stock 96 calipers sufficiently to accomadate the thickness of the Cobra rotor. Specifically I had to grind on the torque member, which is the stock bracket which the caliper bolts to, which then bolts to the vehicle. It was quite a bit of work, took me probably 3 hours per side, using shop quality grinders. Just alot of grinding, testfitting, and grinding again, to make sure everything clears. I use these brakes quite a few times on the road course, so for me at least, they worked fine. I probably wouldn't do it again though because of the work/time involved, and the fact that the stock calipers are pretty small, with a single piston, and not enough pad area to cover the entire new, larger rotor. You would get better braking performance with a 300ZX (which still doesn't cover the entire new rotor, but covers more than the stock caliper) or alternate aftermarket caliper.

FYI, I've had Matt's BlehmCo BBK installed since last May. First try was with Axxis Metal Master pads + OEM Nissan 2004 Maxima rotors. They warped within 3 months, which is just like all my old OEM-sized rotor combinations I had.

Early October I installed 2k4 cross-drilled/slotted Irotors with Bendix Titanium IQ pads. It's been roughly 3 months with no slight indications of warpage at all. Granted, it's also winter, so maybe that could have an influence somehow, but I'm impressed so far. Only complaint is that the combo seems to be noisy (very squeaky)
