Seafoamed and might have popped a hose!! Help!
Used seafoam just like I did before. Disconnect brake booster hose->start car->suck in the seafoam->turn off car and wait->reconnect brake booster hose->start car. When I started the car it started up pretty roughly, then it sounded like a hose popped off in the engine bay and I could see some smoke coming out from under the hood!!! The car died so I tried to start it up and after a few tries it fired up and I ran the engine until the smoke stopped. While I was doing this I tried to look for a hose that might have come loose but I couldn't find anything unusual. The only thing different is when I was trying to hold it at 3K rpm to get the smoke out, the engine would drop suddenly to around 1.5K and then go back up to 3K and back down and up, etc. If I floored it it would go up past 3K into 5K+ but when I tried to hold it at 3K that would happen. I'll try to make this post short...has anyone experienced a hose popping off when you seafoamed and if so, where was that hose located? Also does anyone know what might be happening to my rpms? It's pretty late so I'll have to see tomorrow if my car does something funny on the way to work. Please help, I love my max and want to make sure that nothing's wrong with it. Thanks.
I haven't used seafoam yet, but was planning to, so I can't really comment on the problem. But I'd like to ask you, do you experience these problems right now too or they went away after the smoke cleared?
Check the Booster and PCV hoses..those are te ones that might be off... If not something else happened.
Did you warmed up your car before using it?
I'm doing mine tomorrow and the firsttime I did it nothing wrong happened...
Good lock man..

thats what i did, and im gonna go to O'Rielly auto parts to get it tomorrow..i also found instructions on how much to put
Your car probably needs to burn off all the Seafoam. I've used it before with no problems. Unless you are hearing a vacuum sound then your hoses are probably fine. Seafoam wouldn't cause a hose to pop off or deteriorate.
I've also used it before but this is the first time that something like this has happened. My car was warm (did it after a drive home), checked the booster line again, PCV hose, intake hoses and they're all fine. It only happened at startup. All the smoke is gone and the car runs fine now but there doesn't seem to be as much power as before (might be caused by the ECU taking the rough start into it's "learning", i dunno) but I still have a feeling that there's something loose in my engine somewhere...I'll reset the ECU tonight and try to take a better look. Anyone else know what might be going on?!?
Klutch: When you post something like that, it would also be nice to tell what the "correct" way is
For my year (2k) the only way I know how to reset the ECU is to disconnect the battery cable and leave it over night. I've heard someone say that you can leave it for like 20mins or a couple hours but you also have to do something that drains the stored power like press the brake pedal for a couple seconds. Is there another way to reset ECU? I don't think the 5th gen has the screw turn sequence like the 5.5gens do.

Hi,
for use 3rd geners we have a screw that is on the ecu that we turn and reset the ecu,
but also i think it wise to pull the battery cable to to reset the ecu,
i also tried the seafoam today and none of my hose pop or came off,
yes his engine needs to burn all that seafoam inside the engine in order for it to return to normal,

Good point and I may have misspoke. Here is one way to do it but it may not work for the 2K??

The popping sound..........
The popping sound you probably heard was detonation of the chemicals. Too much to fast. My cousin & I did a throttle body cleaning on our cars awhile back & he had a loud pop. It scared the **** out of me. But he started manually messing around with the butterfly plate & reving the engine & spraying inside the throttle body enough for it to start to stall he reved it harder & pop then stalled & set of a code.
