? about 97-99 bumber conversion

i would like to do the 97-99 front bumper conversion to my 95 gxe but i do not want to buy the 97-99 grille because i have a mesh grille insert that is tied to my old 95 grille...my question is, can i leave the max without a grille and tie up my grill insert to something or is the grille vital to the bumper conversion? thanx guys

It won't work! The 97+ bumper will sit about 1" lower than your 95 grill. You'll end up having a gap between them. If you want to go with 97+ bumper, you also have to get the 97+ grill.

unless you dont mind a 1" gap beetween bumper and grill, consider it more air for the radiator

but I know how you feel, I'm going to do the 97 front conversion but want to keep my grill and mesh.

my real question is i have to have the grille, because i can always buy some more mesh and fit it to the grille section so i can eliminate the gap.

I think that would look retarded, but I dont know, its worth a try if you have left over mesh, put it and see if it will look right. or try to photoshop something up to see how it would look.

I think sadly You'll have to go with the 97 grill

well, you will defintely have the gap, and truthfully no one else will notice, but you, which is enough people, imho.

you may however, be able to cover it up with mesh, but the solid plastic pieces on the sides will still have the gap

if the gap will only be and inch on the bottom and less than half an inch on the side, you should be able to get away with it.

I'd suggest try fitting the 96 grill with new bumper, look at it upclose and take many steps back and look at it. take pics and post.
