95 Maxima Engine Ticking Noise

Is this normal? Whenever the engine is running I hear ticking noises about 4 ticks per second. I just got an oil change and still the ticks are there.

I'm no expert but the first step is figuring out where the sound is actually comming from. Is it coming from the engine or the transmision/clutch, or exhaust. Once you have determined that you might be able to narrow the problem down. It's not much but it may help.

I've never considered my fuel injectors to be noisy and I have never had them serviced, other than an additive that the stealership threw in awhile back. Maybe its something I have to look forward to as my car only has about 56,600 mainly highway miles on it. Those commenting on noisy injectors: have you always felt that way or only after a certain mileage was reached, say 100,000 or whatever.

Thanks

You've never noticed a slight clickety sound? It almost sounds like lifters...

My car has 82k.. ever since I had it at 27k it did it.

They only engage at 6,700rpms on an upshift, 6,650rpms on a downshift. Basically, the force is so strong at 6,700rpms that the fuel injectors can't take the extra power and the car feels as though its hitting the rev limiter. All you have to do is upgrade to R34 injectors/ECU and you'll be set.

well ya see if you get the pti ecu with built in rev limiter like me, the ecu lets the injectors no when to WOT cuz you know how that vtec only kicks in at 6700 but trust me, at 6700 in second gear you wont hear the ticking

I think the only Maxima after the 1st gen without loud ticking injectors would be the VG-series Maxima's
