i really messed up my maxima...

well, after being told that my y pipe was broken and thats why it was making the noise it was. I bought some pace setter headers and y pipe . but anyway after about 5 hours of removing headers and old y pipe and installing the pace setters headers and y pipe. i ended up breaking 2 studs on the front headers and 1 on the back. i started the car up and its the worse sound i have ever heard it sound like i have no exhuast at all. basicly like a huge lawn mower engine. i know i have leaking headers but i guess all i can do is get some shop to redrill the broken studs and they will probably end up breaking some more while they work on it. but can this exhaust leak really make it that much louder or do these headers suck that much and have no way of even working on my car without making this noise?

1. yes, those headers suck. didn't you do ANY research on here before you bought them? everyone that's bought them here has sent them back because they were so ****ty!

2. You had all of that off and didn't fix the exhaust studs? Again, you didn't do ANY research before you jumped into it, did you?

Sorry to be rude, but I don't feel too sorry for you here...

yes, i heard that the paint comes off the pace setters and i heard mix reviews on how they work, some people where didnt have any problems with them. i couldnt leave my car in the garage i was using, and didnt have any tools to fix the studs. just want to know how much they may charge to fix something like this and is it even likely to have a almost normal sound our of these pace setters.

From what my teacher has told me about those headers and how they rust easy because they're not made from SS, is that if you take off their paint, and put real high temp paint on, it should atleast last longer. I don't know what paint will go that high though.

expect to pay about $600 to have a shop replace all your studs. you can do it yourself for about $100 in parts though.. there are several writeups on the forums on doing it.

if you still want to run the headers, strip the paint off and have them Jet Hot coated or coat them with 2000F + header paint.. the exhaust on my car hits temps of 1650F on a hard 3rd gear run, and that's on the front pipe just behind the radiator. temps are bound to be a lot higher on the rear one where there's not much airflow in the engine bay.

I've had good use of High-temp rustoleum BBQ black paint.
It is relatively cheap and should protect from rusting.
