Doors unloks by emself and weird smell in vents

Last day I went to work I've parked my car and locked by using the key pad.
I've finished my day and noticed a tiket left by cops on my driver seat telling me that my doors were unlocked ! 42 bucks !
Ive also noticed that sometime the keypad is not responding I must press on clr and then pres multiple times on the lock button to make it work.
Does some had this problem ?
I also had a problem with the temperature like the ongoing tread on "temp goes krazy" Ive noticeed the temp meter was dropping down and going back up when down then air is less warmer , no fluid drops( that I sure is the thermostast) but the thing is that since when car operates normal sometime I do smell "heat" like a hair dryer smells sometimes . when this ocurs the temp meter is ok .... could that be related to thermostast as well?

My car is a 91 gxe
thanks for any inputs.

I have trouble getting my keypad to work sometimes too. I guess its just like you use it so much and it becomes less sensitive and you have to like "wake it up". Its never really bothered me because it only takes like two seconds to make it work.

No kidding

1-I not a cop
2-I live Montreal
3-My doors unloked by emself ....
4-I got a FXXing ticket because Of hem(cops) finding my doors unlocked and putting a ticket on my driver's seat.
5-I want to know what did cause this
6-It apends at home as well but only when using the key pad to lock the door and never when using the key....

i've never had a problem with the locks unlocking, but sometimes i do have to press other buttons before i can get the lock button to work.
My state in Australia just introduced a new law for unlocked doors,
don't know how much the fine is but i know it's if your more than 4metres away from your car, i think i'd loose my cool if some smart *** cop fines me while im paying for my fuel, It would realy SUCK!

i'd suggest - put in an additional strobe/LED type light (connect it to factory or aftermarket alarm). so you'll know for sure that ur doors are locked.

BTW:
1. parking in montreal sucks!
2. cops give parking tickets for no reason!
3. u never know what parking rules apply today and which side of the road (all signs r in french; rules and signs are so unclear - u never know which day they apply to and which spot they apply to)
4. cops love to give tickets early in the morning under the HEAVY rain (say, 6:30am)
5. etc

so ... montreal is an ideal place for parking tickets even if you do everything rite! LOL

You are right about Montreal , Cops gave ticket for nothing . About the light I use the factory alarm and the alarm light goes on only when the lock "pins" on the doors goes down . I guest I might have a short or wather in the keypad , I prob look at it in spring ... Any clue on the smell in the vent it due to thermostast , I'll get it remplaced and see . Will give results later on
