Illumina suspension settings & Drop ?

Hi, boys, When setting your adjustments on your Illuminas, do you keep both the back and the front at the same number? Or do you set lighter in the front and stiffer in the rear or vise versa?
And part 2, would my Max look ridiculous if I put 18''s on without a drop? It'll probably look like a Grand Cherokee huh ? I'm hearing too many people complaining of squeaks and rattles with stiff suspension and lowering springs and the people who don't have a drop, have no squeaks and rattles. Go figure.

i have different settings for the fronts and backs. for the front i have 2 and teh rear im on 3. if i had a sway bar i would probably put like 2 or 1 in the rear but i dont have one yet.

and yes it would look awfull if u got 18s and no drop. the aftermarket suspension may not be as confortable or quiet as oem but it is way better looking. our car just looks terrible with the stock ride hight.

I dissagree with that statement. My H&R / Illumina setup rides as smooth as if not better then the stock setup. It just feels more like a sports car with a better feel of the road and more control. As far as quietness, there is absolutely no differance in noise level on a spring and strut setup, OEM -vs- aftermarket. Actually, if you replace the stock top mount isolator gaskets with thicker gaskets it gets quieter.

Anybody on this forum who has driven my car will agree with me.

Z rated performance tires, with lower profile's is what generates road noise, not the suspension itself.

Thanks, very good input. And where does one acquire these thicker gaskets?
Thanks
Jeff

My Tokico Set-up rides nice. Stiffer than stock, but my family doesn't complain. No extra noise whatsoever. I run 2/2 in the winter in town (snow packed roads, pot holes etc...), 3/3 for other seasons and long trips in the winter, and occasionally 3/4 if I'm alone and planning some aggressive driving. The adjustments are very specific to the type of spring you're running. I'm running the Tokico springs.

I had 18's on stock for quite a while. Everybody said crap about it. I could care less. Just get the 18s.

I have sprint/illumina set to 5/5 fr/rear. Rides likea stock 5th gen SE.

If I didn't get the sprints for free, I woulda went with illuminas and stock springs to save $. The control w/illuminas is mind blowing.

You make them by tracing the old ones on a sheet of headder gasket material.
Do both the front and rears.

How are those Vogtlands? The price is incredible. However they were very protective of their information.

Lets put it thisway, they are so smooth.

I had eibachs on my old max, and It was really bouncy. These Vogtlands match the shocks perfectly. The 1.5 drop and the stiff shocks make the car really tight on cornering, and the springs just feel realy nice in normal driving conditions.

They are awesome. I have had the tokicos on 5/5 since day one, and dont plan on changing it ever.

4/4 less bouncy, great at 80+ really feel the difference. i have tred 2/3, 2/4, 3/4, 3/2, 2/2, and 3/3, so far 4/4 is the best, ill try 5/5 and see how it goes
